An update… πŸ’ͺ🏻

Now, if I’m being honest, I havn’t done an update on my Slimming World (SW) & fitness journey recently because in all honesty I havn’t achieved alot since we got back from Florida.

If we are being positive, if I hadn’t carried on going to class after I stepped onto those scales and saw my big holiday gain, then I would probably be in a much worse situation right now.

As it is, I have stayed rather stationary.

I have only really put on between 1-2 lbs since the holiday, which for 7 months is a pretty good consistency record… however, I am not at the weight I want to be, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Theres still plenty of work to do. I do rather feel like I am in a rut and even weeks when I have been really good I don’t seem to be achieving the loses that I once enjoyed.

So, what am I going to do about it?

β€’ Drink more water

,β€’Go back to alternate low/normal carb weeks (1 week, eat carbs, next week, try to limit them to 1 meal a day.)

β€’Return to the gym (I’ve been twice this week… a new record for 2019 πŸ™ˆ.

β€’Snack on free foods, put less crap food into my body unnecessarily. Don’t get me wrong, I will always love food, chocolate & treats, (always).

β€’Keep writing down what I am eating.

β€’Don’t use up my syns just for the sake of it.

What are your fitness /weightloss goals?

Blogmas Day 10: Mini mince pie pastry bites

This is my first foodie post of Blogmas 2018 and it’s a tasty recipe for all you mince pie fans!

I have developed a real love of mince pies over this recent festive season but as I follow the SW plan I’m trying to find ways to enjoy my favourite festive treats and stay on plan (ready for the inevitable over indulgence on the main days of Christmas)

So, this recipe, although SW friendly is still great for anyone looking for a twist on a classic, a bite sized treat of Christmassy goodness that won’t add to the waistline as heavily as a traditional mince pie might.

This recipe uses Light puff pastry, so a bit different to the traditional short crust.

It is so simple, and those recipes are the best kind.

Ingredients

-One roll of Tesco light puff pastry (Not frozen)

– A jar of Tesco Mincemeat

-One egg, beaten. (To egg wash)

-Sweetner (To sprinkle)

(This post is not sponsored by Tesco but I did an online shop when I ordered these and wanted to keep it simple when working out the syn values using the Slimming World app)

Recipe

Roll out the pastry flat and cut into squares (roughly 5cm x 5cm)

I weighed each square to make sure that it was 20g each. If you aren’t on SW you won’t need to be so particular.

On each square add a teaspoon of mincemeat.

Fold over the pastry from one side to the other and crimp along the edge to stop any leakage.

Lay the back onto the baking parchment that the pastry comes in, on a bakig tray.

Beat the egg and brush over the top of each one to help them turn golden.

Sprinkle each one with a little sweetener.

Bake in the over for 10/12 minutes on 200Β°.

Enjoy hot or leave to cool.

I prefer them warm with a cuppa.

These work out as 5 syns each which I don’t think is too bad. One with a cuppa would be perfect to get that festive mince pie hit.

20g (ish) of light pastry 4.5 syns

1 tsp mincemeat (0.5 syn)

Total: 5 syns each.

Enjoy!

6 Slimming World Sweet treats🍴

So, if like me you LOVE snacks and having a tasty treat alongside your free/speed food on the Slimming World plan then this post is perfect for you.

I love the versatility of the plan that Slimming World offers, especially the 5-15 syns that allows for some seriously sweet, and super yummy treats.

th

Below I have listed six of my fave sweet treats, including their syn values.

Hopefully this will give you some inspiration, if like me you need help with treat ideas and low syn snacks to get you through the day.

RidLMxkyT

1. Sweet & Salty popcorn

Ranging from 2.5-6 syns

The syns depend on the brand. I love the mini packets from Tesco that are 2.5 syns & Aldi’s own brand, which are a much bigger bag, for 6 syns.

Popcorn is a great snack, healthier than others & great for the cinema!

2. Hi fi bars

Syns: 3 syns each//X2 as a HEX B

My favourite flavour of hi fi bar is salted caramel, they are A-MAZING!

These are a great snack but some are also great as a cereal bar for a quick brekky on the go.

These are only available in class.

th

3. Snack biscuits

Syns: 2.5 syns per biscuit.

These are literally one of my favourite biscuits, covered in my favourite chocolate (I used to love the Cadbury shortcake bar in the blue wrapper!! 90s throwback!!) I didn’t realise how low in syns theses are… perfect with a cuppa and they definatly sort out that choc craving.

4. Nutella B Ready bars

Syns: 6 syns.

I LOVE these, they are so crispy and delicious and FULL of Nutella!! They are a great sweet treat for all you chocoholics like me.

5. No added sugar Jelly

Syns: 0.5 syn.

These make a perfect dessert after a meal, they are really tasty, with loads of flavours available & are really low in syns. My favourite flavour is raspberry.

Make sure it’s No added sugar Jelly as the others are more synful.

6. Whitworths Shots Berry & White chocolate

Syns: 4.5 syns

These are so sweet! I love the combo of dried fruit, which is naturally super sweet, and loads of little cubes of white chocolate, sooooo good.

They are surprisingly chocolatey too.

Well worth 4.5 syns as you get alot in the pack too, more than you’d think.

These are all perfect, they hit that sweet craving and make a great addition to a snack plate at the end of an eve.

So tasty!

Who says following a meal plan means you have to eat boring food aye, because let’s be honest, we all like a snack.

I hope you’ve found this handy. If you’d like me to do a savoury version then let me know.

Any of your ideas are greatly received too, anything to fend off my v.sweet tooth.

Until next time,

My favourite Slimming World snacks!Β

As you may know from previous posts (or not? hello if you’re new πŸ‘‹) I follow the Slimming World (SW) plan. We shop at Aldi and they do amazing snacks & treats that are great on SW so I thought I would share with you my favourites!

So here they are…

Let’s start with savoury as I have less of them:

  • Cup Shotz. This is Aldi’s version of  a mugshot and its 100% free! The chicken and sweet & sour flavours are free, not all are.

  • Aldi’s crisps are amazing! The cheese curls are 3 syns and the melts are 4 syns. They make such great snacks & are excellent value for money too.

Next up, Sweet treats:

  • Brooklea light yoghurts. These are sooo tasty and free. I only discovered these on our shop today and they are fab. I picked them up in vanilla and toffee flavour. (These are free a couple of the flavours are 0.5 syn)

  • Crispy oats & honey granola bites. These are fab with a tea or coffee, crispy, oaty and delicious.

  • Sweet and salty popcorn. This is so yummy and great as a snack or for the cinema. I love the combo of sweet and salty and this big bag is 6 syns. These are also available in multipacks and those bags are only 2.5 syns each!!

  • These groovy bars are a delicious chocolatey biscuit fix to satisfy those sweet cravings. These are 6 syns each.

So those are a few of my favourites! I hope you’ve found it useful and discovered some yummy treats that you can pick up from a local supermarket.

I thought I would quickly mention some Easter favs and their syn values, there are a few that you can enjoy on plan and to me this is amazing, diet? What diet?

  • Cadbury creme eggs, 9 syns each.
  • Cadbury mini eggs, 1 syn each.
  • Malteaser mini bunnies, 3 syns each.

Enjoy πŸ‘Œ & don’t forget to treat yourself!!

Slimming World update: Lets do this!Β

I’m feeling quite motivated at the moment, I’m in the zone πŸ‘Š

This week in class I lost 0.5 lb and your probably thinking that’s not alot! But as they say a loss is a loss. I couldn’t get to class last week due to family problems and we had a few days of bad eating at the weekend so I was going into the unknown a bit this week having not known how I did last week.

I tried really hard this week to stay on track as since January I’ve been doing quite well with only a couple of small gains that have been evened out by big losses or maintaining so I didn’t want to spoil it, so as I say I was happy with that loss no matter how little it is.

I’ve put lots into place this week to really boost my weight loss because I do really need to start sticking to the plan 100% because it really does work!

So what have I put into place this week you ask?

  • I have decided to no longer have a treat after class on a Thursday night. Class finishes at 9 and by the time I get home and order sed takeaway treat (because that’s usually what it is) It’s gone 10 and that’s just too late to enjoy it really. I will be saving my treat for Saturday night when I’ll really enjoy and appreciate it πŸ‘
  • Instead of a treat (as mentioned above) I am going to have a dinner I can eat at Slimming World once I’ve been weighed. This will fill me up & stop me being so hungry after class. Here’s what I had this week:

Low fat houmous (1.5 syns per tablespoon) with carrot & cucumber crudites, mini multiseed thins (1.5 syns each) and Quorn cocktail sausages (0.5 syn each) Hula hoop pufts (3 syns a bag)Obviously this isn’t 100% free but it’s just something tasty to have, still a little treat and so easy too. (+ with some added Speed foods!!)

  • Keeping up with my food diaries and my journal.

I got this little Slimming World journal a couple of weeks ago and it’s so good for keeping you on track. When I first started Slimming World I filled out a food diary every week without fail, however in the last year I havnt been so good and once it isn’t habit anymore it’s easy to not bother! I find this journal much easier too as it’s not a piece of paper I can lose and it has cool features like inspirational quotes, a weekly meal planner, a graph to track your weight loss, food diaries (a whole page for each day) etc.

The journals are only available from class (I think) and are Β£4.95.

  • Getting prepared!! When I got in from class I sat down with my ‘Little book of lunches’ SW book and planned what I will be having next week. I get so hungry at work and thats when I snack on naughty things so getting prepared is always good. Looking through the books also reminds you of how much delicious stuff you can cook/make/prepare on SW, so goooood!

  • Food shopping! I definatly won’t be skipping this, this week as it always makes for a better week when the fridge is stocked with deliciousness! I mean seriously, is there a better sight than a full fridge, no, no there isn’t!! We also stopped off at Asda on the way home from class to grab a few bits, here’s what I got…

Hartleys no added sugar jelly (0.5 syn per pot)

Chicken & sweetcorn noodle mugshot (Free!)

Strawberries (Free!) & only Β£1

Bakery fresh wholemeal rolls (Hex B)

    • Having a target or weekly goal is also great,  again the journal’s great for this as you write in your weekly weight loss goal. I’m only 1.5 lb away from having lost 1 stone, hurrah! Then I’ll only have another stone left until my target 🀞 I would like to lose more than that this week if I can, maybe 2.5 or 3, but getting to that 1 stone would be fab regardless.
    • Don’t look at the cake!! My work is so bad for cake in the staff room so I’m just going to make sure I have plenty of SW friendly sweet treats for work & just think, do I really want that cake?! (YES!!) More than I want to lose weight? (NO!!) I need to appreciate the treats when I have them, don’t deprive yourself that doesn’t work but also realise that you need to have a bit of control because you won’t lose weight otherwise.

If there was a diet where you can eat whatever you want and still lose weight we’d all be on it, Slimming World is as close as you can get to that!! Take your control back πŸ‘Š

I hope you’ve found this blog post helpful, you can do it!!

I’m looking forward to a chilled out weekend & an awesome, super focused week! Let’s do this!!

    Until next time,

    Roseanne πŸ™‚

Mini Slimming World food Haul πŸ΄

I’ve grabbed quite a few different and new Slimming World friendly products this recently during our weekly food shops so I thought I would fill you guys in.

    Let’s start with savory…

    Butternut squaffles

These are so tasty and a great alternative to high syn waffles and chips. Butternut squash is an S too which is great and it means a less carb loaded meal which is nice to have sometimes.

    Skin on Sweet potatoe chips

Sweet potatoes are quite hard to cut up and I was feeling a bit lazy haha. These are super tasty and a yummy alternative to normal potatoe chips.

    Courgette lasagne sheets

Again these were a nice alternative to pasta lasagne sheets and are an S which is even better. These can just be layered inbetween the usual mince and cheese sauces without any need to be pre cooked! Much quicker, less faffing about.

    Heck chicken sausages

These sausages are so yummy and only 0.5 syn for 2. I know it may seem wierd as they are chicken but they make a nice alternative to pork sausages and have a really nice flavour. The Italia ones with mozzarella & tomato are my favourites.

    Porky lights sausages

These are so tasty and only 0.5 syn each which is awesome for pork sausages. These are so good! Their only downfall is the price so I try to grab them when they are on offer.

    Hula hoop pufts, ready salted

These crisps are really nice and great as a snack. They are 3 syns a bag which is really low for crisps.

    And sweet…

    Muller light Yoghurt

Completely free and so yummy. An excellent dessert, snack or addition to a packed lunch.

    Fibre one squares

These fibre one treats are only 4 syns each, and trust me they are worth it! The chocolate brownies in particular are as good (if not better) than many cafe brownies. They also come in Lemon drizzle and salted caramel flavour.

    Chocolate coated rice cake bars

These are a great chocolate fix and I love having these as a snack at work. These are 4.5 syns per bar. I also have these in chocolate orange flavour which is my favourite.
And of course…lots of fresh fruit and veg! This is probably the bulk of our weekly shop but so worth it and super good for you. We always have apples, Pears, strawberries & raspberries (when available) and lots of salad veg such as toms, peppers, cucumber etc as these are my favourites to eat.

I’m going to do a post soon with some yummy Slimming World recipes so if you liked this post keep your eyes peeled for that πŸ‘

    Until next time,

    Roseanne πŸ™‚

    My favourite snacks!Β

As you’ll know if you’ve read day blog before I do Slimming World so I thought I would share with you some of my favourite low syn snacks.

I know the ‘syns’ of things won’t apply to someone who isn’t following Slimming World but these are handy to know if you are and also if you want a snack that will keep you on track when you are trying to be good, and I know lots of people look to start the new year well.

Its all about balance at the end of the day, I know if I try and stop myself eating something I’ll only want it more.

    Let’s go…

These are a low syn alternative to a full sized digestive with the same great taste. These are only 1.5 syns each instead of 4 for a normal choc digestive. I grabbed these in milk chocolate and dark chocolate form.

You can also buy individual packs of digestives in the milk and dark chocolate variety that only have two digestives in them. These are good if you want a full sized biscuit without the temptation of a full pack.

Aldi do loads of great low syn crisps but this week I’ve been loving quavers. These multi pack bags are only 4.5 syns which is fab compared to the standard bags of Walkers crisps. These multi pack bags of sweet & salty popcorn are only 2.5 syns, amazing! I’ve really got into sweet & salty popcorn at the mo so these are great to grab for a yummy snack or to take to the cinema.

These rice cake bars are also from Aldi and are only 4.5 syns. These are a great sweet treat as they are covered in orange flavoured dark chocolate, So yummy! They also come in plain chocolate too.

Something else to satisfy a chocolate craving is a good old Freddo bar. A nice little bar of Cadbury Chocolate you can quickly grab. I have to be honest, they aren’t as big as I remember but I was smaller then too! Ooh almost forgot to mention, these are 5 syns each.

These granola bites are so yummy to have with a cup of coffee and taste so sweet and oaty. Each ‘bite’ is 1 syn. These are again from Aldi.

The last few snacks I thought I’d include are the Pink N Whites marshmallow/wafer sandwiches.  These are only 2 syns each.

Kallo choco-coconut rice cakes are only 3.5 syns per pack and you get 4 mini chocolate and coconut covered rice cakes in each pack. Yes these are aimed at kids but I dont care! Why should kids get all the good treats aye!! These are also great to just grab quickly or for your packed lunch.

As you can tell I have a definite sweet tooth but these are just so good to keep you on track if your trying to be good and are super yummy too.

I hope you’ve found this handy πŸ‘

    Until next time,

    Roseanne πŸ™‚

What’s in my bag? Slimming World edition.

If you follow my blog you’ll know that I follow the Slimming World weightloss plan and attend class. I dont really talk about Slimming World much on my blog but it is an important part of my day to day life so I thought I’d talk a bit more about it in this blog, incase those who read my blog are interested and to help others if they read this and think it could be for them too.

So, what is Slimming World? (Just a little bit about it incase you havnt heard about it before!)

It’s basically a food optimising plan that allows you to have a bit of everything (in moderation) you can still eat carbs, and meat and of course lots of fruit and veg but it’s cooked in a healthier way. It makes you think about alternatives to higher fat foods that are just as yummy and better ways to cook these foods.

The Slimming World plan is so easy to follow and so versatile that there isn’t much you can’t eat. It works really well for me and when I stick to it (which isn’t always, I’m only human) then the results are fab! I go to class with my two sisters and brother in law, it’s much nicer going with others! I would never have walked through the doors if my sister hadn’t have gone first.

So, what’s in my bag for Slimming World (SW)?

Firstly lets just take a look at my awesome shopping bag! I usually just grab one of these material bags for SW and pop what I need for the meeting in them as it’s super quick. I love this one, it’s so me! When I’m shopping there are just some things I can never resist.

The first thing I always put in my bag is my SW book …

The black book is your main book with the details of the plan, recipe ideas and syns, this is also where you log your weightloss. Cant go without this!

I also can’t go without my purse as you have to pay, Β£4.95 until you reach your target weight.

Every week the person who has lost the most weight two weeks consecutively is awarded Slimmer of the week. We all take a free food in to go in the basket and this is what the winner gets. I grabbed a nice big Carrot, an apple and a satsuma! All speed foods which speed up your weightloss.

It’s also nice to have a lovely hot drink during the meeting so I grabbed my Cath Kidson mug to use β˜•

    Such a pretty mug 😍

    And finally, low syn snacks.

I don’t eat much if anything after lunch on a weigh in day as my meetings at 7.30 so I eat dinner afterwards. For my snacks to munch on after weigh in I grabbed a pack of sweet & Salty popcorn from Aldi and a pink & white marshmallow, a sweet treat. (I didn’t eat all 4 I took one each for my fam)

    And that’s it!

I’m going right back to basics this week and writing this helped me too! You only get out what you put in so fingers crossed for a big loss on the scales. My aim for 2017 is to become, or get as close as I can to my target weight by the summer. Holidays and the summer holidays in particular are hard so I want to smash it until then πŸ‘Š

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful! Wish me luck πŸ‘

    Until next time,

    Roseanne πŸ™‚

    What I eat in a day πŸ΄πŸ€—

As you may or may not know from my blog, I follow the Slimming World plan.

Disclaimer: This isn’t a plug for Slimming World! I just want to show you what I can eat in a day on this plan, how yummy some of the food is & some of the food & snacks I enjoy the most πŸ‘

Let’s start with my favourite meal, breakfast

A standard breakfast for me is something along the lines of Weetabix or porridge topped with banana or berries. On the weekends I love having a cooked brekky but during the week this hits the spot πŸ‘Œ

This is usually accompanied with a coffee or tea β˜•

    Snacks

Now working in a school means that we have a break time mid morning. I am usually quite hungry by then and there are a few things I like to have for Snack… I obviously don’t have these all on the same day, these are just some of my faves.

Crisps: Aldi Sour cream & chive pitta crisps 5.5 syns

Aldi honey and granola bites 1 syn each

Mallow & Marsh bar, raspberry marshmallow covered in dark chocolate 7 syns

    Lots of fruit πŸŠπŸŒπŸŽπŸπŸπŸ“

    Lunch

Here’s a typical lunch for me, I obviously mix it up as I’m not one of these people who can have the same lunch, day in, day out.

This yummy salad bowl consisted of salad leaves, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage & beetroot served with chicken slices, ham & cottage cheese.

I will usually have a mugshot alongside a salad as well as some more fruit & a Yoghurt too.

    Dinner

This was one of the yummiest Slimming World meals I have made so far, Crispy chicken with loaded potatoes skins & homemade coleslaw πŸ˜‹

The Crispy coating is made from dipping the chicken in beaten egg & then coating it in seasoned Smash powder. I filled the potatoes skins with a mix of the potatoes, spring onion, ham, cheese, salt & pepper. Tasty!

I made the coleslaw using a combination of shredded Carrot, onion & red cabbage mixed with light mayo.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you would like any of the recipes in full let me know πŸ‘

    Until next time,

    Roseanne πŸ™‚
