Homemade banoffee pie.

It’s nice to have a treat every now and then and this is one of mine and Tims favourite recipes. We’ve made this for years but realised the other day that we havnt made it since we moved in together, over a year and a half ago! I was shocked because it’s soooooo good.

image

The Ingredients

1 tin of caramel
2-2 1/2 bananas
Half a pack of digestive biscuits
Butter
1 pot of double cream (we use Elmea)

The recipe

image

1. Pop the digestive biscuits into a sealed plastic food bag and crush into crumbs with a rolling pin.

2. Melt your butter slowly in the microwave.Β I don’t weigh out a certain amount I just melt a bit and add it gradually to see how much is needed.

3. Add the melted butter to the biscuit and mix until the biscuit is lightly coated in butter.

4. Press down into your tin/tray in an even layer and pop in the fridge to cool for up to 30 mins.

image

5. While the biscuit is in the fridge whip up the cream. Do this until it’s stiffer and holds it shape more. This is the topping.

6. When the buttery biscuit base is ready pop on the layer of caramel.

image

7. Slice up the bananas and place one slice next to the other, creating another layer.

image

8. Top with the whipped cream and pop back into the fridge to set nicely, for an hour.

Enjoy!

Until next time,

Wedding update no 5

Time for another wedding update! It’s all go now as the weeks seem to be slipping away quickly. Today it is 4 months and 14 days, 135 days in total.

We have managed to get quite a few of the main things sorted now which is great and gives plenty of time for all the little things that are much more time consuming to bring together.

Suits

image

Tim has ordered his suits. We went into Debanhams on Saturday and sorted them out once we had had a look around. They are going to look really smart! As you may remember the bridesmaids are going to be in the pink of our colour scheme, so we thought it would be nice to have the green for the groom and groomsmen. The colours really complement each other.

My Shoes

My shoes (bar the dress of course) are one of my favourite purchases so far!
Here they are…

image

They’re so pretty β™‘

I love them.

Flowers

image

I finally found somewhere that does really lovely silk flowers at a very reasonable price.

The main flower, and my personal favourite, in my bouquet is light pink gerberas.
image

I am mainly having the pink in my bouquet.

As the bridesmaids are in pink they will predominantly have green in their bouquets.
image

We are also getting the button holes from here for the guys but we will have real flowers for the table decorations.

I can’t wait to have our consultation and see the bouquets once they are done.

I love the idea of being able to keep my bouquet as a lovely reminder of our day and I love flowers πŸ™‚

The Venue

We went to the venue on Tuesday evening to have another look round, trying to visualise where everything will go and try out the centrepieces. I was really happy with them and have just ordered some pretty sprinkles to add the finishing touch.

Im still looking in to cars at the moment and ploughing on with the invites ready for half term!

Until next time,

A reading challenge for 2016

So my sister Sarah sent me a post on facebook about a reading challenge for 2016. I LOVE to Read and always have a book with me in my bag but, it can be really tricky to choose a new book once you’ve finished one, (Especially when you have a book shelf crammed full of books just waiting to be read) so I thought this would make my choices a bit easier.

Here’s the challenge:

image

It adds a but of structure to your book choices and it’s a bit of fun.

I’ve worked out some of books I am going to read according to the list, here they are:

A book published this year (2016): The girl in the woods: Annie Graham Series book 5 by Helen Phifer

A book you can finish in a day: Animal farm by George Orwell

A book you’ve been meaning to read: The Lake house: Annie Graham Series book 4 by Helen Phifer.

A book recommended to you by a local librarian or bookseller: (Havnt chosen yet)

A book you should have read at school: Now I actually read the books I was supposed to at school so I’m just going to read my favourite one again, To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee.

A book chosen for you by your spouse, partner, sibling, child or BFF: My sister has recommended one of Nicholas Sparks books to me so Ill read that for this one.

A book published before you were born: Lord of the Rings Triliogy: The Fellowship of the ring by JRR Tolkien.

A book that was banned at some point: A clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess.

A book previously abandoned:Β The 3rd book in the Divergent series, Allegiant by Veronica Roth.

A book you own but have never read: Life of Pi by Yann Martel or The fault in our stars by John Green.

A book that intimidates you: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

A book you’ve already read at least once: Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J K Rowling.

At the moment I am reading Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone and The Lake house: Annie Graham Series book 4! Hoping to have finished these both by the end of January and that will be two off the list already! β˜†

Until next time,

Wedding update no 4! We’re in the year of the wedding!!

Now that Christmas is over and the new year has begun it’s full speed ahead with the wedding plans. I realised looking back that I havnt done a wedding blog post since November!! So I have a few things to catch you up on.

1. Invites

image

I’ve made huge head way with the invites now. After changing my mind about the design and going over a few ideas, I have now finished all the daytime invites (excluding the information inside) and around 10-15 of the evening invites.

My deadline for handing these out is February Half term, so just over a month away. It feels good to have got the majority made and ready to go.

2. Jewellry

I’ve brought myself some beautiful earrings from Warren James in town. They were originally Β£59 but were reduced to Β£19 in their sale.

I have a mini scrapbook of ideas and inspiration from Pinterest and a bundle of Wedding magazines that my lovely friend Livy kindly handed down to me, and there were a similar pair of earrings in one of the magazines so I stuck the picture into my scrapbook only on Thursday, so as soon as I saw the ones in the shop I loved them.

image

They are so pretty β™‘

3. The rings

Me and Tim also managed to find him a wedding ring on Saturday during our little jaunt to town. It’s a lovely 4 mm White gold band. Very exciting!

image

I didn’t manage to find one for me but we’ve still got plenty of time πŸ™‚ I need a wishbone ring to fit with my engagement ring so hopefully I’ll be able to find one I like.

4. Wedding make up

My lovely, and very talented friend Demi is doing my make up for the wedding and I had my first wedding make up trial last Wednesday. I really enjoyed it even if it did make me realise how clueless I am when it comes to make up haha.

image

It was nice to try out some of the make up looks I had in my scrapbook and see how they came out.

Demi used lots of her lovely make up on me, here’s what she used:

image

The foundation is YSL fusion ink. It was light when applied and didn’t feel heavy on my face at all.

The blusher was Revolution make up London. She used a pink tone for my cheeks.

image

The highlighter pallet is also a Revolution one.

The Mascara is by Benefit.

image

image

This lipstick is Illamasqa. We also tried out Dior Rouge Nude Swan Lipstick. I loved the colour of this one.

And here’s the final look (apologies for the close up of my face!)

image

Check out Demi’s make up facebook page ‘Demi Lauren’ and her blog which also has some great posts all about her make up and make up looks, tips and favourites.

demidoll.wordpress.com

I can’t wait for our next make up trial!

We have also brought some white wine for the tables, and set up our appointment for the notice of marriage, for half term. The notice of marriage is very important so I wanted to make sure we got that sorted ASAP! I will also be having my first dress fitting in February which I cannot wait for

so excited!!

It’s all go from now onwards and I thought it was rather fitting to post today as it’s exactly 5 months until the big day!! That doesn’t sound like much at all.

I’m really enjoying organising the wedding and I know it can be stressful at times but I keep reminding myself that I’ll only be a fiancee planning a wedding once so I might as well embrace every aspect of the planning process.

151 days to go!

Until next time,

Breakfast with the family!

Breakfast: a meal eaten in the morning, the first of the day!

On Sunday (10th) me and the family met up for breakfast at our local Harvester. There was nine of us!! Me, Tim, my Mum & Dad, my two Sisters and their Husbands and my Nephew Noah.

It’s nice to all get together as it can be hard to do other than special occasions.

image

The Harvester do an unlimited breakfast which includes their continental and cooked options. It’s so yummy.

image

You can order as much cooked food as you like, as many times as you like which is really good. It’s nicer than a usual buffet in a way as they cook it to order and its not sitting around. I had poached eggs, grilled bacon, grilled Soya and leek sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and 2 hash browns.

This works really well for Slimming World as the bacon is grilled (and I took the fat off) the veggie sausages are free, the mushrooms and tomatoes are all grilled and poached eggs and baked beans are free too. I syned the hash browns (2 syns each).

image

image

…And of course lots of cups of tea! Yummy.

image

Noah really enjoyed his breakfast too!

image

image

image

I’d definatly recommend the Harvester Breakfast as a nice weekend treat! It gets your Sunday morning off to a great start!

Until next time,

1. We got engaged!

Now this makes me smile for obvious reasons! This is my engagement ring that Tim brought me in Florence, Italy on 9th August 2015. It was the best day of my life so far when Tim asked me to become his wife, I’m very lucky!

2. My twin sister got married.

These photos were taken at my twin sister Sarahs wedding to Dan. It was an awesome day and helping with the planningΒ  and preperation was really great too. My favourite bit was beingΒ  a bridesmaid πŸ™‚

My gorgeous nephew Noah turned one on 8th September 2015. I can’t believe that time has flown by that quickly!! It’s crazy. He’s such a lovely, clever, funny and extremely cute little boy and I love him very much. It’s super fun being an Auntie β™‘

4. Hen Dos/Weddings

I went to two Hen dos this year, one I organised which was my sister Sarahs (with my sister Charlotte) and one for the lovely Livy. Both were lots of fun!

Sarahs Hen Do.

For Sarahs we had an Ufford Park weekend break which included a Harry Potter themed meal with decorations and HP cupcakes, drinks in the bar, a 3 hour spa session and treatment, a night stay and breakfast the next day. It was fab and very relaxing.

Livy’s Hen Do.

For Livys we had a lovely stay over in London, in a hostel (my first time) dressed as Halloween themed Harry Potter characters. Me and Sarah went as the Weasley twins Fred and George. We had a yummy meal out followed by drinks and a caberat show, the show was fantastic. We had breakfast and played at the Namco arcades the next day before heading home.

Sam and Livy’s Wedding.

It was such a lovely day. It was so nice to see one of my oldest friends (Sam) get married and Livy looked beautiful. It was a wintery theme and the venue was so pretty.

β—‹ Add to the Harry Potter savings
β—‹ Rely on my phone less
β—‹ Reach my SW target/or get as close as possible before the wedding
β—‹ Worry less
β—‹ Be more positive, always look on the bright side and appreciate what I have
β—‹ Go to the Harry Potter Warner Bros tour
β—‹ Stop biting my nails

What are your resolutions for 2016?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
