Creepy cupcakes for Halloween πŸ•ΈπŸ‘»

Inspired by Zoellas vlog and bake off I had a go at some creepy cupcakes ready for my sister Halloween film day/night. To see what we got up to for this take a look at my sisters blog post here.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4tbspWater boiling
  • 40gCocoa powder
  • 3Egg(s) (free range)
  • 175gButter (unsalted)softened
  • 165gUnrefined golden caster sugar
  • 115gSelf-raising white flour
  • 1tspBaking powder rounded

You can also find the recipe here πŸ°

I love Mary’s recipes as she goes for the ‘mix it all in together’ approach, which makes life a lot easier for even the most serious of bakers!

I started by weighing out all my ingredients carefully…

I prepped the chocolate writing fluid next by placing it in a jug of boiling water.

This helps the chocolate inside to melt ready for your piping. I would recommended buying two tubes of this if you haven’t done much piping as I used loads just practicing and then I ran outπŸ™ˆ

Once everything was ready I used my food processor (lazy I know!) to combine all the ingredients.

The mixture looks silky and smooth when it’s combined, good enough to eat like that!!

I like to use an ice cream scoop to put an even amount of mixture in each cupcake case. I couldn’t find any funky Halloween cases so I opted for spooky silver ones.

Whilst they were cooking I attempted piping…

Once my baking prong came out clean from the cupcakes I popped them on the cooling rack, the house smelt divine.

I cheated with ready prepared chocolate buttercream as I was pushed for time but the recipe I have linked includes what you’ll need to make chocolate buttercream too.

    Here they are…

The piping isn’t great but I tried my best! Some didn’t go to plan so I improvised with shop bought ghost marshmallows to top half of them πŸ‘»

I got very excited when Zoella herself liked my picture of my cupcakes πŸ€—

Screenshot it of course haha πŸ™ˆ

I love lush at the best of times, I’m a sucker for a bath, so the fact that they have brought out a Halloween themed range was a great excuse to buy some new products.

I brought two of their Halloween specials, the Sparkly Pumpkin Bath bubble bar and the Boo bath melt.

    The Sparkly pumpkin πŸŽƒ

    img_8289

This is a beautiful smelling, fruity scented bath bubble bar with a hint of warm cinnamon. I love how Sparkly it is and it turns your bath an awesome orange colour. Simple crumble under the running bath water for soothing bubbles to fill your bath and a yummy scent to fill the whole room. This is Β£3.95.

Next up is the cute little ghost bath melt, β€œBOO”. This is a fresher scented bath bomb, filled with cocoa butter, it makes the bath smell really creamy and your skin feels super soft too. It…

    Afternoon tea πŸ°β˜•

One of my favourite meals has to be afternoon tea and my mum enjoys it too so, when a offer came up on Groupon for Afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie I thought why not! The Groupon was for afternoon tea for 2, Β£19 instead of Β£25.

Me & my mum decided to go this week as it was almost the end of the voucher validity and it’s half term.

I was really looking forward to this and we weren’t disappointed!

Here’s the 3 tier cake stand of treats!

The bottom tier consisted of little finger sandwiches (cucumber, ham & mustard, smoked salmon, chicken & pesto, egg & cress) as well as a little vegetable tartlet each.

The middle tier was the scones with clotted cream and jam. you get a mini plain and fruit scone each which was nice.

The top tier is all about cake. You got a mini chocolate eclair each (mum swapped hers for a coffee macaroon as she doesn’t eat chocolate) a chocolate mousse cake slice, a Carrot & walnut slice, a fruit mousse slice and a mini Victoria sponge.

I’ve had afternoon tea a few times at the Salthouse hotel in Ipswich, this is quite a high end version at Β£17.50 each but I have to say I was very impressed with Patisserie Valerie’s. The selection was nice with lots of different sandwiches, yummy cakes & different scones too. Great value for money πŸ‘

Definatly one to try if you are a fan of afternoon tea like me.

Where have you tried afternoon tea? Any recommendations?

    Until next time,

    A relaxing bath πŸ›€πŸŽƒ

I love a bath! So I thought I would do a little blog post about my bath today & how I like it.

I like to run a nice hot bath first and then choose a scent for my burner & a bath bomb.

I went for my ‘Aromatherapy’ scent for my burner as it smells just like a spa, soooo relaxing πŸ•―

I thought it would be good to use my Halloween, autumnal Lush bath bomb. I mentioned this in my ‘Lush Haul’ blog post, so don’t forget to check that!

This bomb is called ‘Oh My! Pie!’ And was Β£3.95 πŸ‚πŸŠπŸπŸŽƒ

It smells SO lovely. It has hints of pumpkin & cinnamon although this is quite subtle. The main scent is sweet vanilla, so good!

    Here it goes …

When it fizzes it looks really cool as the face of the pumpkin is really prominent, it’s a bit spooky πŸŽƒ

This doesn’t create as much bubbles as the bath bars but leaves a lovely vibrant orange colour to the water and it smells great.

(Excuse my bathroom floor & the paint brush that you can see in this picture, we are currently doing some home decor)

I love how seasonal this is and I will definatly be looking out for more of Lush’s seasonal products from now on, roll on Christmas!

Any bath isn’t complete without a good book to read as you relax and soak. I am currently reading ‘Sleepless in Manhattan’ By Sarah Morgan.

It’s such an easy read and I was pleased to find out that there are more books that follow the same characters in a sort of series.

I love the New York setting too, it’s really cool. πŸ—½πŸŒ‡πŸŒ‰

Here’s the blurb just to give you a little insight…

‘Cool, calm and competent, events planner Paige Walker loves a challenge. But when she loses the job she loves, Paige must face her biggest challenge of all – going it alone.

Except launching her own events company is nothing compared to hiding her crush on Jake Romano – her brother best friend, one of New Yorkshire most eligible bachelors… and the only man who’s ever broken her heart.

When Jane offers Paige’s fledgling company a big chance, the ever present chemistry between them starts giving her Sleepless nights. But could Paige be the girl to make the man who trusts no-one take a chance on forever!

There’s no better way to start the day πŸ‘Œ

    Until next time,

    What I eat in a day πŸ΄πŸ€—

As you may or may not know from my blog, I follow the Slimming World plan.

Disclaimer: This isn’t a plug for Slimming World! I just want to show you what I can eat in a day on this plan, how yummy some of the food is & some of the food & snacks I enjoy the most πŸ‘

Let’s start with my favourite meal, breakfast

A standard breakfast for me is something along the lines of Weetabix or porridge topped with banana or berries. On the weekends I love having a cooked brekky but during the week this hits the spot πŸ‘Œ

This is usually accompanied with a coffee or tea β˜•

    Snacks

Now working in a school means that we have a break time mid morning. I am usually quite hungry by then and there are a few things I like to have for Snack… I obviously don’t have these all on the same day, these are just some of my faves.

Crisps: Aldi Sour cream & chive pitta crisps 5.5 syns

Aldi honey and granola bites 1 syn each

Mallow & Marsh bar, raspberry marshmallow covered in dark chocolate 7 syns

    Lots of fruit πŸŠπŸŒπŸŽπŸπŸπŸ“

    Lunch

Here’s a typical lunch for me, I obviously mix it up as I’m not one of these people who can have the same lunch, day in, day out.

This yummy salad bowl consisted of salad leaves, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage & beetroot served with chicken slices, ham & cottage cheese.

I will usually have a mugshot alongside a salad as well as some more fruit & a Yoghurt too.

    Dinner

This was one of the yummiest Slimming World meals I have made so far, Crispy chicken with loaded potatoes skins & homemade coleslaw πŸ˜‹

The Crispy coating is made from dipping the chicken in beaten egg & then coating it in seasoned Smash powder. I filled the potatoes skins with a mix of the potatoes, spring onion, ham, cheese, salt & pepper. Tasty!

I made the coleslaw using a combination of shredded Carrot, onion & red cabbage mixed with light mayo.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you would like any of the recipes in full let me know πŸ‘

    Until next time,

    OOTD: Autumn casualΒ

I thought I would do another ‘Outfit of the day’ blog post as this was really popular last time I did one. Since its autumn I’ve included some autumnal clothing that I have brought recently to make this look seasonal.

This is a casual everyday look, I wore this to the cinema.

    Here it is…

This top is from H & M and was Β£7.99

These blue jeans that are ripped at the knee are from Boohoo and were Β£18.

    Love this combo!

This lovely black parka coat is from H & M and was only Β£29.99. It’s so comfy and warm, a really good length and it has a hood. This is great for autumn, I love it!

These greymarl pumps are only Β£4 from Primark and super comfy.

I can’t remember the exact price of this bag from Primark but it wasn’t more than Β£10.

This autumnal scarf is Β£6 from Boohoo. I am loving this πŸ‘Œ This is one of my favourite autumnal pieces.

    Here’s the outfit altogether…

    Nice & cosy πŸπŸ‚πŸŒΊπŸŠ

The total cost of this outfit is Β£75.98!

Hope you liked this post 😊

    Until next time,

    Happy 1st blogging birthday πŸŽˆ

So today marks one year since I started blogging. 8th October 2015.

I was a bit cynical about it to start off with, who cares what I write about? Why bother? But I have really enjoyed talking about important events, my hobbies & favourites in my blog.

If you follow my blog you’ll know that I started blogging to track the progress of our wedding planning and in 3 days time we’ll have been married for 4 months, it’s crazy how time flies but I’m so glad I have this blog as a memory of the process. I also like talking about things I enjoy and like!

& people do actually read my blog and ‘like’ it which is nice, I don’t do it for this reason but it’s nice all the same πŸ‘

    So, why blog?

If you’ve thought about blogging but are unsure, here are a few reasons why you should!

    • It’s fun! It’s really nice just to write about a day or activity that you’ve really enjoyed or a purchase that your really happy with. You can relive the day again when you read it.
    • Confidence. I was so worried about posting my blog as I was concious of what people would think about what I write, ‘Oh my God how lame’ ‘who cares what she brought in Primark!’ Etc etc  But once you’ve written a few and people view it or follow you, you realise that actually at least you’ve got the guts to put yourself out there and it’s not what others think that matters!
    • It’s free. And you can’t really go wrong with that! I really enjoy sitting down and planning what I’m going to write about, finding the pictures I want to use and any additional information that I’ll need. It’s a hobby in itself really.
    • It makes you think about your writing & coherence. I think this is something that slips once you leave school, if you don’t do a job that involves much writing, but I think once you are writing something you know others will read you take more time and care over it.
    • It keeps you connected. Blogging is a really good way to keep in touch with people and their lives. I realised this when I was writing about the wedding planning. I know that my Auntie & some of Tim’s family who dont live close by followed the blog to see how the planning was going. It’s a nice way for them to be involved even when they are far away! And even when you see people you don’t necessarily have time to mention the little things, so it’s a great way to keep connected and up to date.

If your thinking of starting a blog don’t let anything hold you back! Go for it πŸ‘Š

    Until next time,

    YouTuber products πŸ–²πŸ›πŸŽ€

Here are a few products from two of my favourite YouTubers Zoella&Tanya Burr.

Tanya burr cosmetics ‘perfect brows’ kit.

    This powder eyeshadow kit is great. It has four colours;

    • Fairy cake: this is a lovely highlighter to apply under the filled brown.
    • Pebble: A light beige colour to fill in the brow.
    • Chesnut: A light brown colour to fill in the brow.
    • Hot Cocoa: A dark brown colour to fill in the brow.

I use ‘Pebble’ & ‘Chesnut’ mixed together when I do my brows, this palette is great! I don’t use ‘Hot Cocoa’ as its a bit dark for me but it’s a lovely shade.

    Everyday flutter lashes.

I haven’t used these yet but they look really pretty. These half lashes have a natural, eye opening effect.

I went for the ‘everyday’ lashes as I haven’t worn flash lashes before so I thought these would be good for a first try, without being too much.

I’m going to watch some of Tanya’s videos to see how to put them on best!

I bought three different products from the Zoella beauty ‘Tutti Fruity’ range. This range is being discontinued soon so I thought I would try some out of it out before that happens, plus my sister Sarah loves this range and is always raving about how nice it is.

Zoella scrubbing me softly smoothing body scrub.

    280g Β£1.50

‘Buff your way to snuggly -soft skin with this fresh, fruity scrub. Enriched with Acai and blueberry this body Polish has a light, feminine fragrance to uplift and give you an instant burst of energy. With conditioning Cocoa butter -lovely scrubbly!

Zoella Candy cream softening body lotion.

    160ml Β£1

‘Treat yourself to this delicious fresh, fruity cream for a soft and silky body. Packed with bursting beads and extracts of Acai and blueberry to pamper and protect because your skin needs a bit of love too!

    Zoella ‘Kissy Missy’ lip balm.

    Β£1

This has a lovely pink tinge to it and makes your lips feel really smooth, not tacky. The colour is lovely and good for a quick pop of colour.

& from the New Zoella lifestyle range…

    The ‘Homemade treats’ reed diffuser.

Softly whipped butter xterm and gooey salted caramel drizzled over home-baked cupcakes. Bring some indulgence to youe home with this delicious scent; (almost) good enough to eat!

It smells SO good!! And the description of buttery creamy, cupcake goodness is on point. It takes a few days to diffuse fully but once it does its so yummy.

I really hope Zoella brings this scent out as a candle soon, they are perfecting it atm so fingers crossed it will be soon πŸ‘Œ

This would make an amazing candle πŸ•―
