Pets 💚

Pets make a great addition to any family, they are someone to cuddle, someone to talk to, someone to look after, someone to love.

This probably seems like a really random blog post but I started this blog to document one of the most important days of my life (our wedding) and since then I have found it my place to write about the things I like, that make me, me as well as the things that are important to me in my life.

We have two pets, both guinea pigs, brothers in fact, they are called Remus and Captain. I named Remus after the Harry Potter Character Remus Lupin and Tim chose the name Captain.

My favourite things about having them as our pets are the following; feeding them and seeing their delight when they have a tasty treat, giving them a cuddle & a stroke and hearing them squeaking whenever i open the door after a day at work (or when anyone opens the fridge)

My nephew Noah has become more fascinated by the guinea pigs as he has got older, hes grown up with them. He always comes into the lounge and sees them, asks where they are if they are hiding and helps me to feed them too.

Unfortunately yesterday (Saturday 23rd September) was a very sad day as we lost Remus 😭 He was a such a cool guinea pig & quite a character too! We’ll miss him loads, (especially Cappers). He had been ill and appeared to get better but such is the problem with small pets such as Guinea pigs, they often mask their illness. I just hope he is comfortable wherever he is now.

He was a big part of our lives! Him and Captain were our first pets that we bought together after moving in with each other 3 years or so ago when they were just 8 weeks old.

Pet’s really do leave a special mark on your heart 💚 I’m glad we’ve still got Captain and we will always have the lovely memories of our awesome, funny, adorable Remus 🐹

Victoria Sponge Birthday Cake recipe ðŸŽ‚

Hi guys 🖑

So I took to Twitter last week to see what you guys would like to see in my next blog post, And food won!

This coincided with the making of my Mum’s birthday cake, her birthday was on sundayy, so I thought that, that could be the focus of this blog post because, who doesn’t love a good cake let’s be honest 👐

I used a Mary Berry recipe from the BBC food website, although she isn’t on the GBBO anymore (still hurts) she is still the queen of baking 👑

  • 4 free-range eggs
  • 225g/8oz caster sugar, plus a little extra for dusting the finished cake
  • 225g/8oz self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 225g/8oz baking spread, margarine or softbutter at room temperature, plus a little extra to grease the tins

Let’s take a look!

My sponges aren’t very neat, but they tasted good!!

Next up! Jam & buttercream…

Voila! Mum chose fudge pieces and white chocolate as her toppings…

The finished cake, it’s quite a beast. Not perfect but I was really pleased with the rise of the sponges and the taste.

Top tip: Let the sponges cool before pulling off the baking parchment from the bottom of the sponges!

Mary Berrys Perfect Victoria Sponge!

Until next time,

New fave Lush product ðŸ›€

‘Somewhere between hot pudding, dripping in caramel, and crunchy cinder toffee, for the most luxurious of washes.’

It smells A-MAZ-ING.

I’m not usually a soap user to be honest, I see it as a bit of an old fashioned method of cleaning, it’s all about shower gel these days isn’t it really?!

However, I challenge anyone to walk past this in Lush and not stop! I didn’t even go in to buy it but, as I walked past, the scent of it filled my nostrils and I had to find out what it was.

It has a lovely creamy, honeycomb scent that stays on your skin throughout the day! I keep getting whiffs of it as I walk around work and it’s great.

You feel lovely and clean and a bit pampered too, move over Dove!

It costs £4.25 for 100g and the pre wrapped piece I picked up was about that price, although it’s great that you can pick and choose the size of your chunk.

This will definatly be on my stocking filler list this year.

100% check this out next time your in Lush 👌

Lush faves/recommendations??

Until next time,
