Getting into the festive spirit πŸŽ„ Blogmas day 11

Hi guys!

It’s very easy to get caught up in the hussle and bussle of December, its a super busy month in the lead up to Christmas, but you need to make sure you enjoy Christmas yourself.

It will make the festive period so much more enjoyable if you take the time to get into the spirit.

These are just a few ways that I spend a day in, if I want to get into the festive spirit or am feeling particularly Christmassy and want to have a Christmassy day.

Lets take a look…

1. Watch a Christmas film/TV show

I love popping a Christmas film on, to sit and watch or to have on the background. I am quite fond of theΒ  ‘made for TV’ Christmas films, I’ve been recording those to watch at the weekends. One of my fave Christmas films is Arthur Christmas, although I do have to watch the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special at least once!!

2.Β  Write out your Christmas cards

This not only gets you in to the Christmas mood but it also ticks a job off the list too which is great for taking away some of the seasonal stress. I LOVE our Christmas cards this year, I found them in Primark and they are Harry Potter Christmas cards.

Of course I had to buy them, they are so cool but the designs are really pretty too. They were Β£1 for a pack of 30 and I bought three packs.

3. Do some decorating

This is one of my most favourite Christmassy activities ever and it is guaranteed to make you feel so festive, I seriously challenge anyone to not feel super festive whilst putting up the decs.

If I’m feeling really Christmassy I end up buying more decorations or just going around the flat popping all the lights on and admiring the tree decorations haha.

4. Pop on a Christmas CD/play some Christmas tunesss

Because Christmas songs are life.

My ultimate fave is WHAM! Last Christmas, classic. We have a spotify playlist that is Christmas themed but we also have the ‘NOW! That’s what I call Christmas CD, unfortunatly this year I am yet to find it, sadface 😦

and finally…

5. Do some present wrapping

The ultimate Christmas activity, cosied up in front of a film, hot chocolate by your side and a festive array of wrapping paper, ribbon and bows and you are certainly in for a festive afternoon. I have found a couple of different sets of ribbons etc and have again gone for the traditional colour scheme of red, gold and green. I also have some pretty white and gold sets too.

The paper you see above is so cute and is covered in traditional Christmas toy soldiers, gingerbread men, snowmen and candy canes, adorable. I bought this one to wrap the children’s presents with.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with Ikea’s Christmas wrapping selection, this is where the bulk of mine is from (random I know!) but great and inexpensive too.

I will be doing another post later in Blogmas with some great ways to feel festive when you are out and about!

I hope this helps make you feel festive and ready to get your jolly on!

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Until next time,

Christmas market fun! βœ¨πŸŽ…πŸŽ† Blogmas day 7

Hi guys!

At the weekend we thought that we would head to a local Christmas market. I love doing things like this and having little days out during the lead up to Christmas, they make you feel so festive!!

Me and Tim headed there with my sister Charlotte and our niece Evie-Mae. We arrived with three hours to spare before the lights got turned on so we took a little look around the market.

They had a few little stalls and obviously the town shops were open too so we also had a browse in some of those, for some Christmas decorations, and bits and bobs.

I picked up a few decorations because you can’t ever have too many can you!!??

It was quite chilly in the little seaside town so we headed for a refreshment break in Greggs.

A pastry or two, a cuppa and a biscuit later and we were ready to head back out.

The lights came on at five o clock. We were all wrapped up warm as we watched them being turned on and they had a few little fireworks too.

It looked really festive and the tree had lovely multi coloured lights on it. I really liked the lights as they were all quite colourful in yellows, reds and greens! The ones in our hometown have been made a bit more ‘up market’ and are white and gold, and although they are very pretty (& some look like giant snitches!!) I do love, what I would call, a traditional light display.

A fun, festive day out to kick off December!

Until next time,

Putting up the tree πŸŽ„ Blogmas day 5 🌟

So, this is of course the start of the festive decorating period, the main feature of many a room, all over the world, for the next month or so.

The humble Christmas tree makes any lounge cosy  and fun,  the theme for our tree is red, gold and green, very traditional and classic.

Lets take a look!

1. Lights

We have warm yellow lights for the tree.

2. Tinsel

Red and gold tinsel alternating throughout the tree adds a touch of sparkle.

3. Baubles

We added the plain baubles first. We have a mix of sizes, shiny, matte & frosted baubles in our colour scheme of red, gold and green.

4. Decorations

Once the plain baubles are on we added our personalised and hand picked decos. There are a few new ones, I like to pick up one or two each year in the lead up to the festive season. My mum sometimes gets me a decoration too.

5. The star on top

We have a matte red star that tops our tree. It came in the set my mum originally bought us, when we moved out, along with the plain baubles. Tim did the honours.

& here’s the final tree πŸŽ„πŸ‘Œ

Halloween fun πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

So, as we all know yesterday was Halloween! Good ‘ol October 31st πŸŽƒ

I did a few different things this year to enjoy this festival, It’s not something I particularly celebrate as such but it’s quite a fun festival to take part in, it’s a good excuse to get together/dress up etc and I love the spooky, dark atmosphere too.

On Saturday we had a family Halloween party…

Party food, spooky music, costumes, decorations, family, fun & pumpkin carvings too!

The kiddies loved it (the adults too) and it’s a nice reason to all get together.

On Sunday, Me, my sister Sarah & her friend went to a Halloween event in one of our local parks. Its a paid for event but all proceeds go to a local charity. It was called ‘Whose scared of the park? After dark. For thr even they had volunteers hiding around the park ready to scare you.

The volunteers were dotted around a planned 5k walking course and they were dressed in brilliant costumes from creepy brides, chainsaw wielding madmen, nuns, clowns and more. It was a fun walk (cold🀀, but fun) and everybody dressed up and got into the Halloween spirit.

We decorated our faces to look like creepy, cracked faced dolls…

This was so much fun to do and super effective.

The final Halloween activity that I did this year was a trip to the cinema on Halloween night to watch a horror film, one of my fave genres of film.

We (Me & Sarah) went to our local cinema, as monthly cinema card holders its one of our favourite things to do and there are a few good horror films out atm, be rude not to see one on Halloween.

We went to see the latest film from the ‘Saw’ franchise called Jigsaw. I really enjoyed the film, it had a really good twist to the plot and aside from the gore (what did I really expect from a Saw film!!) it was easy to watch too.

I hope you enjoyed your spooky Halloween celebrations, whatever they were!

How do you celebrate Halloween?

Until next time,

Fun at the 02!Β

So, at the weekend, (Sat 1st July) yes the 1st of July, the first day of the SEVENTH MONTH of the year! Seriously 2017, slooooww dowwn. Basically we went to the 02 for  the Star Wars: identities exhibition as my husband Tim loves Star wars and its his birthday next week.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. As someone who is only now watching the Star Wars films properly I found it really interesting and a fun experience.

There were over 100 pieces that were used in the actual Star Wars films, costumes, droids, models, to look at as well as an accompanying audio guide.

You also got given a wristband at the start and you build your own Star Wars character and shape their identity using it. You make choices about their species, home planet, job, personality etc and this creates your character for you.

Here is Tim’s:

Here is mine:

This was so much fun and I remembered alot more about the film’s than I though I would.

Tim had a great time which is the most important thing β™‘

After we had been to the exhibit we headed to get some food (also in the 02) there is such a good selection of restaurants in there to choose from and because we had been to the exhibit we got 25% off our food bill, winner!

We went to Zizzis and had a delicious Italian feast.

For starters Tim had this A-maz-ING bruschetta with creamy mozzarella, tomatoes & basil pesto πŸ‘Œ

I had one of my favourite starters, calamari (V.fitting after my character choice haha)

Tim had a classic Bolognese for his main, which was so rich and delicious. (Yup, I stole a sneaky taste, I’m not the only one who does that am I? I mean what’s mine is yours right! πŸ˜‚)

I had a delicious mushroom tortelloni dish in a creamy sauce.

We shared their new tomato, basil & mozzerella bread πŸ‘Œ

We love having days out for a birthday, I love receiving gifts people have chosen for me but there’s something lovely about having experiences and making memories too.

Definatly worth a look for all you Star Wars fans πŸ‘

Until next time,

Baby shower fun πŸ’› Β

So during May me and my twin sister Sarah hosted our big sisters baby shower! She is due mid July so we decided May would be the perfect time, especially with Half term then too.
We went for an afternoon tea theme with the colour scheme of yellow/grey/gold as they haven’t found out the baby s gender! This was really cool to plan as the only other baby showers I’ve organised are Sarah’s and they were both blue themed.

Here are the decorations…

Afternoon tea vibes ✌

We had loads of food from sweet fruit scones, jam Swiss roll, lemon cheesecake, chocolate cupcakes & Victoria sponge to savoury cheese straws  sandwiches, sausage rolls & a cheese ring! With plenty of tea and coffee.

Activities…

So to keep the guests entertained we had a couple of games/activities and things for the guests to do.

Baby due date predictions.

Messages & advice.

Guess the baby. Whose old photo is whose?

Photo booth fun!

Guess the size of the baby bump.

Opening presents.

Me, Sarah and Mum clubbed together to get Charlotte a few things that she still needed incl bottles, a steraliser & some bibs & baby grows.

Favours/mementos…

We bought these super cute gift/favour bags to pip a little something in for each guest. We thought the floral vibe went well with the afternoon tea theme & would be right up Charlotte’s street. The colours were of courses perfect too.

In the bags we had little bags of milk bottle sweets, retro 😎 and little wish bracelets. Sarah found these online and they are sooo cute.

* Make a Wish for baby *

‘Tie this bracelet on your wrist, close your eyes and make a Wish. When the bracelet breaks in two, the wish you made may soon come true.’

The bracelets are yellow with a little silver footprints charm. I love how you could personalise it too.

As a little memento for Charlotte we also made a sort of picture guest book (thanks Pinterest!)

Everybody who came signed a balloon with their name and then I arranged it onto the pre drawn picture. Someone I work with is brilliant at drawing so I asked her to draw the elephant on, it looks fab. We thought this would be a lovely keepsake, perfect for the nursery.

It was a really fun (& tasty!) afternoon and everything went smoothly, which as a host is all you can ask for really!

As I write this there are only 26 days (or 27 if my prediction is correct haha) until Baby S is due and I’ll be an Auntie for the 3rd time, EXCITING!!

Until next time,

Roseanne πŸ™‚

EASTER! 🌼🐣πŸ₯

I havn’t done a blog post about something I’ve done in ages! I love reading those sort of posts myself (So I hope you guys do too!) Plus they are nice to look back on and reminisce.

My hubby had Friday off of course which was a nice treat so we decided to make the most of the day and do as much as we could together and it was soooo nice.

Good Friday

So we started off the day with a super yummy cooked brekky, a lovely Friday treat as usually we would both be at work and wouldn’t have time for such an indulgent breakfast.

After that we didn’t have long before the film we had decided to see at the cinema was starting (Beauty & the Beast!!!πŸ₯€) As we live close to our local cinema and the sun was shining we decided to walk.
Of course the film was amazing (I’d already seen it once!) But Tim also enjoyed it too.

We were getting a bit peckish again by the time the film had finished so we had a cheeky Nandos, because why not! It’s a bank HOLIDAY after all, treat yo self!

& the fun didn’t stop there, oh no. Next stop was back home for a spot of Harry Potter Monopoly (Yes you heard right!)
My very clever and lovely husband designed and made this for me for my birthday a few years ago as offical Harry Potter Monopoly doesnt exist. It’s amazing.

In the evening we decided to grab a drive thru Starbucks from the new one in our hometown and head to our local bowling alley. The Starbucks was beaut. πŸ‘Œβ˜•

We had three games of bowling (Tim won best of three) and then we headed home.

A very GOOD Friday! (Sorry, not sorry!)

Easter Weekend

Saturday

We completed our usual 5k Parkrun first thing Saturday morning, insert horrendous picture here ⬇

Once we had done that we went our separate ways to freshen up and get ready to go to Lowestoft. Tim’s mum & Dad have a holiday flat there so we are staying for the Easter weekend.

We arrived around 2 o clock and settled in before heading to the shops to grab some dinner supplies.

We then headed to the beach for a play & the arcades too!!!!! Seriously coooool.

Later on Me & Noah got creative and made some yummy chocolate Eatser treats…

& we cooked and ate dinner, watched BGT and played games in the evening 🎲

Easter Sunday

First things first, EASTER EGGS!!

We discovered the little cafe over the road from the flat is open on Easter Sunday so we headed over for breakfast…

…unfortunately everyone else had the same idea!! Looks like they are the only place open for business on Easter Sunday, in Lowestoft.

Whilst we waited for our food we took a walk!
Oh I do like to stroll along the prom prom prom 🐚🌞

Once we were suitably full and wind swept we headed back for more Easter frivolity ie an Egg hunt & an Egg and spoon race.

For the rest of the afternoon we chilled out before heading back home.

Our family has an Easter tradition of a Chinese takeaway in the evening on Easter Sunday (Yeah it’s random I know) Don’t hate us cause you ain’t us!

Jealous, right?! I love a family tradition.

What do you guys do for Easter?

Happy Easter! πŸ₯🐣🐰

Until next time,

Work Secret Santa πŸŽ… Blogmas day 19Β

This afternoon at work we did our secret santa present exchange! It was lovely to hang out together, do a Christmas quiz, have a laugh & nibbles. I love my present that I received, someone knows me well…

It’s a postcard book version of one of the Harry Potter colouring books. I love the adult colorings books and of course Harry Potter so this is perfect πŸ‘Œ

These little postcards are so cute so I think I’m going to colour them in and use them as my thank you cards from Christmas.

Here is one of the pages…

Today In my beauty advent calender…

Today was a lovely dark purple eyeshadow with a lovely shimmer in it. This would be perfect for the party season & to create a lovely smokey eye make up look.

6 days until Christmas!

Blogmas day 18 πŸŽ„Sunday lunch

Today me & my husband Tim met up with some of our friends that we havnt seen for a little while. We thought it would be nice to go for a meal together just before Christmas so we met at a little pub called the Westerfield Swan.

Since its almost Christmas (1 week to go!) we thought we’d go in our Christmas jumpers.

The pub is so cosy & it looked lovely and festive πŸŽ„

The food was super delicious too, I went for the fish & chips for main and my favourite dessert..

The warm white chocolate tart! It’s amazing.

It was a lovely afternoon catching up, seeing little Harvey whose now 7 months old 😱 (Its scary how time flies) and just having a laugh.

In my beauty advent calender today…

I got this little eyeshadow brush, super handy for popping in your bag or for travelling.

1 week to go until Christmas!
