NYD 2023 πŸŽ‰

Hi guys πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Here we are, 2023! How mad.

I hope you enjoyed NYE, however you spent it. We had a chilled one with out friends, playing games, eating party food and having a few drinks.

We made the most of the first new day of the new year by spending the day together.

We started off still at our friend’s as we stayed over last night. We all had a nice chilled, lazy get up which was great as I was knackered from staying up but also from a rubbish nights sleep the previous night (I never usually have trouble staying up until midnight!)

Once we left, we decided to stop off for lunch on our way home. We both fancied a roast to roll in the new year, and let’s be honest, a roast is way better when you don’t cook it or there’s no washing up at the end, so to Toby carvery we went.

Perfect for a Sunday or Bank Holiday and there was a slot that fitted I’m perfectly with when we would be arriving home.

I went for Roast Turkey as I didn’t have any at Christmas. It was so really juicy turkey and it was delicious with cranberry sauce, the thick gravy and awesome roasties.

After our yummy roasts we decided for go for a walk.

After that we headed home for a little while before we went to the cinema.

We went to watch the film ‘Till’ which was playing as an Unlimited Screening, so you can get to watch the film before it comes out to everybody, if you have an unlimited card (which we both do)

The film was incredibly powerful, thought-provoking, inspiring but also truely heartbreaking. The film was from the perspective of Emmett Tills mother Mamie, which it what makes it so compelling and as I said, emotional – It is told from the perspective and experience of a black women and is co-written and directed by a black women.

I took some of the Christmas chocolate in a tub for us as we have loads left still. It saves us buying anymore and is a good way of getting through it as you need a cinema snack!!

How did you spend your New Year’s Day?

🐣Easter Activities for kids!

Hi guys!

This blog post is just a few simple ideas for you to keep the kiddies entertained over the Easter weekend.

Even if you don’t celebrate Easter in the traditional sense (I don’t either!) It is still lovely to make the most of a long weekend and some family time.

But, of course with kiddies it can be hard to keep them entertained and if you are having people over for the Easter weekend or Easter Sunday then you may need to get them out from under your feet whilst the prep takes place!

Well fear not, because I have some ideas for you that will keep them busy and are lots of fun!

Let’s take a look!

1. A Easter Egg Hunt

Cadburys & Nestle both have Easter egg hunt packs out atm as well as places such as Aldi & Lidl. They come with lots of eggs (depending on the size of the hunt you want and some prizes for the end.

You can also get Easter egg Hunt packs that have clues and signs included in them which is great if you have older children, to add a bit of challenge to your hunt.

I’ve seen these in Asda and discount stores such as B&M.

2. Easter arts & crafts

These monthly children’s magazines are great for a bit of easy art and craft and they come bursting with resources!

They are a bit pricey but, trust me they last! I bought this one for my nephews and we made two things each and there is loads left!! So one issue goes a long way and they are really easy, fun & varied.

You could also look online (Pinterest!!) for come easy craft ideas that use your recycling.

Kids love a bit of junk modelling.

3. Easter baking

Kids (& adults) love getting involved in a bit of baking, especially when it involves a tasty treat at the end!!

Check out some recipes here .

These are all really child friendly, quick, easy and the recipes use alot of the same ingredients! So easy on the purse too.

4. A Easter film

Why not create your own ‘cinema’ for a rainy day activity?!?

Pop on an Easter Film, grab some comfies, a blanket and of course some Easter choc snacks or any bakes you have created, and just enjoy a nice, chilled film together. Netflix or Easter specials of their favourite shows are great for this.

During the school holidays local cinemas such as Cineworld usually put on more ‘Movies for juniors’ showings which are a MUCH cheaper way of taking the kids to the cinema, so look out for those too πŸ˜€

5. A Nature walk/visiting the farm

A walk is a great way to enjoy and talk about the Spring and all the beautiful flowers and changes taking place.

Plus, on a nice day (let’s keep our fingers crossed for some) a bit of fresh air and a run around is great for the kiddies.

Visitng a farm is also great at this time of year as there are lots of baby animals to see and learn about too! Great experiences.

🌷 I hope this helps & have fun whatever you do 🐰

Happy Easter!

Until next time,

Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald βš‘

As you may, or may not have seen, the new Fantastic Beasts film has recently come out in cinemas.

Me & my twin sister Sarah LOVE Harry Potter and were very excited about this new release.

This is the second film in the new series of magical movies from JK’s Wizarding World.

The last film came out in 2016 so this has been highly anticipated…

…. & it didn’t disappoint.

We couldn’t go to the Midnight showing that our local cinema put on, like last time, but I did notice that they had a special preview showing on the Wednesday before it was officially released.

The preview was a double bill, the first film followed by the latest one, SO exciting.

With our Florida Gryffindor jumpers on (From Diagon Alley, Universal!!) Gryffindor scarfs, and a Starbucks in hand we settled down to watch the latest instalment.

The film was fantastic (No pun intended!) and was a brilliant sequel to the last one, much darker and with lots more detail into the Wizarding world and the story of Grindelwald, Dumbledore & the Lestrange family, all headed up by the adorable Newt Scamamder, the hilarious Jacob and quirky Queenie.

Definatly worth a watch! πŸ‘πŸ»

We will give going again for sure!

Summer diaries: Week Two, Three & Four!

Apologies for the delay! But my ‘Holiblog’ series kind of took over!

But, the summer hols are only just over so I thought I would finish the series up and update you guys on how I spent the middle weeks of the holidays.

The reason I’ve lumped a few weeks together is because I’m not going to actually explain what I did in weeks Two and Three as that is when we were in Florida…Instead I will leave the links to my holiblogs…

Weeks Two and Three

Florida 18 Holiblog pt1

Florida 18 Holiblog pt2

Florida 18 Holiblog pt3

Week Four

Thursday 23rd/Friday 24th August 2018

Tonight (Thurs) I slept over at my twin sister Sarah’s house.

We had a treat dinner before heading to bed ready for the celebrations the next day.

Friday 24th August 2018 marks two years since my beautiful youngest nephew Casey James was born.

I am so happy I am waking up there and being able to experience his birthday with him first thing. We have a fun day planned!

Our first stop was the cinema to watch

‘Luis and the aliens’

It was brilliant and we had a great time, especially with some yummy snacks and drinks included.

The film was one of the best kids films I’ve seen in ages!

Next stop! McDonald’s for a birthday treat lunch.

Stop number three, Pennikkity Pots!

Here we did something a bit different but fun and creative. The boys both chose a ceramic and they painted it. Casey chose a fish whilst Noah painted a shark.

They loved it!

Nana & Grandads in the evening for more presents opening and cake!!

It was a jammed packed but fun day to celebrate Casey turning two!

Saturday 25th August 2018

Me & my friend from work met up this evening to have a meal together.

Nandos was delicious as usual and the halloumi starter proved as difficult to avoid as always.

It was great to catch up after my holiday and have a good old chat!

Sunday 26th August 2018

Casey Jame’s second birthday party.

It’s kind of a tradition to have a little party each year, with all the family! So of course this year was no exception.

At Sarah & Dans we had party food, present opening, fun, games and of course cake!

There was a definite dino theme amongst his presents and he loved his dinosaur Jurassic World birthday cake.

We rounded off the day with a delicious impromptu (always the best kind) Chinese takeaway.

That’s the penultimate week done, its the last week next week 😱

Until next time,

Halloween fun πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

So, as we all know yesterday was Halloween! Good ‘ol October 31st πŸŽƒ

I did a few different things this year to enjoy this festival, It’s not something I particularly celebrate as such but it’s quite a fun festival to take part in, it’s a good excuse to get together/dress up etc and I love the spooky, dark atmosphere too.

On Saturday we had a family Halloween party…

Party food, spooky music, costumes, decorations, family, fun & pumpkin carvings too!

The kiddies loved it (the adults too) and it’s a nice reason to all get together.

On Sunday, Me, my sister Sarah & her friend went to a Halloween event in one of our local parks. Its a paid for event but all proceeds go to a local charity. It was called ‘Whose scared of the park? After dark. For thr even they had volunteers hiding around the park ready to scare you.

The volunteers were dotted around a planned 5k walking course and they were dressed in brilliant costumes from creepy brides, chainsaw wielding madmen, nuns, clowns and more. It was a fun walk (cold🀀, but fun) and everybody dressed up and got into the Halloween spirit.

We decorated our faces to look like creepy, cracked faced dolls…

This was so much fun to do and super effective.

The final Halloween activity that I did this year was a trip to the cinema on Halloween night to watch a horror film, one of my fave genres of film.

We (Me & Sarah) went to our local cinema, as monthly cinema card holders its one of our favourite things to do and there are a few good horror films out atm, be rude not to see one on Halloween.

We went to see the latest film from the ‘Saw’ franchise called Jigsaw. I really enjoyed the film, it had a really good twist to the plot and aside from the gore (what did I really expect from a Saw film!!) it was easy to watch too.

I hope you enjoyed your spooky Halloween celebrations, whatever they were!

How do you celebrate Halloween?

Until next time,

The nightmare before Christmas: Blogmas day 8

Last night me and my sister Sarah went to the cinema to see ‘The nightmare before Christmas’ in 3D. Neither of us have seen it before so we thought since our local Cineworld had a one off showing why not go and see what all the fuss is about! I knew the film had been out for a while but I didn’t realise it came out in 1993, blimey.

The showing was at 8.15 so we grabbed our popcorn and headed to our seats.

I quite enjoyed the film, having never seen it, it was like watching a new film (even though it’s been out for years) you can definatly tell it’s by Tim Burton as it’s got a bit of a wierd edge to it.

The songs are very catchy (I never realised quite how musically orientated it is) I’m going to be singing ‘This is Halloween’ & ‘Whats this?!’ in my head tomorrow haha. I would probably give the film:

It’s cool that the film is a mixture of both Halloween and Christmas as I like both of these holidays. It’s not really over the top christmassy but still cool to watch this time of year anyway. It makes you think about the complete contrast that these two holidays are. πŸŽ„ Vs πŸŽƒ

I think I will do another Blogmas post on a Christmas film that I haven’t seen before, Home alone. This is much to the disgust of a lot of people (my sister especially) So I think I’ll try and find a time to watch that this festive month and see what all the fuss is about!!

In day 8 of my advent calender…

I got this lovely sheer lip gloss. It’s in a beautiful peachy pink colour & as I have loads of liquid lipsticks but only 1 or 2 lip glosses this is fab! I’m going to wear it today as it has a lovely colour & shine to it that’s nice even to wear on its own (I can’t be bothered with full make up today!)
Any Christmas film recommendations?

Ho Ho Ho

Fantastic beasts & where to find them Midnight screening β˜‡πŸŽ₯

As I’ve mentioned on here me and my twin sister Sarah are BIG Harry Potter fans and so the release of a film from the Harry Potter franchise was very exciting.

We decided to go to the midnight showing at our local cineworld.

We went for dinner at Byron burger, this is one of the new resturant in the newly refurbished Buttermarket shopping centre in my home town.

The interior is really cool…

And fhe food was delicious…

I had the ‘Clucky’ chicken burger which was full of yummy guacamole and pickles. Sarah went for the veggie bean burger.

We also went for a couple of sides, courgette fries & onion rings with garlic alioli dip πŸ‘Œ

Once we’d eaten we made our way to The cinema…

We were very excited!!

Adorned with HP tops and Gryffindor scarfs with butterbear frappicinos in hand we headed into the screen!!!!!

My verdict… β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†

It was amazing. Of course it is a different story to Harry Potter with different characters but it is set in the same magical world that all Potter fans know and love with a new and exciting plot and awesome characters that add more detail to an already amazing franchise.

Written by JK Rowling it fits in perfectly as a prequel to the original Harry Potter series (those Harry Potter marathons just got more epic) The mention of characters from the Harry Potter franchise just make it more viable and exciting and you learn more about JKs incredible magical world and the beasts that inhabit it.

I would 100% recommend giving this a watch πŸ‘Œβ˜‡

Until next time,

Bank holiday blogΒ

So as you will know we had a bank holiday at the beginning of the week, a long weekend = happy Roseanne πŸ™‚

Here’s what I got up to..

Friday evening

Me & my sister Sarah went to a Crumble magic party. It’s the same premise as body shop parties just with Crumble magic products.

Crumble magic is one of Sarahs in laws business and the candles she makes smell incredible. They are essentially ‘creative candle scents’

I love candles & smellies so I was in heaven 😍

My favourite scent that I picked up was the divine ‘Strawberry lemonade’ it smells lush and like real fizzy lemonade. I can’t wait to burn this one πŸ‘Œ

Check out Crumble magic on facebook or online here

Saturday

We had a chilled out Saturday which is always a winner. Tim was off to the football with my dad so I went to watch ‘The BFG’ at our local Cineworld. I have been wanting to see this for a while so before it went out of the cinema I thought I’d go.

I really enjoyed the film, although it is definitely aimed more at children! (Big kid right here πŸ™Œ) It was a lovely representation of the book & funny too.

In the evening we went to our friends house for dinner & games. They have recently moved into their new place so it was lovely to see it & see how they are getting on with decorating. Their house is so lovely 🏑

Dinner was a delicious home cooked Shepards pie & afterwards we played a game of ‘Scotland Yard’.

All in all a great Saturday πŸ‘

Sunday

On Sunday we had a busy but fun day. We started off by taking part in the Bubble run at one of the local parks, the course is 5K and included bubble/foam stations along the way!

It was lots of fun! The run was in aid of St Elizabeth hospice, so it was nice to do a bit of good too πŸ™‚

At 6 we went to the new trampolining place that has opened on Cardinal Park, it’s called Flux.

We went here with Tim’s work friends and had a great time, it was a bit different & a fun way to exercise too. I can’t wait to go back!

Afterwards we all went to Nandos for dinner, always a winner with me πŸ“πŸ—

Monday

Monday was a lovely family day. My Auntie had come down to see this little fella…

This is Casey James Parker, my new nephewβ™‘  24.08.16 9.53am 8lb 10.5oz

He is a beauty & I was lucky enough to witness him come into the world.

Lots of cuddles all round πŸ™‚

We took Noah & Casey for a walk to the park in the afternoon & then stopped off for dinner at KFC on the way home. I havnt had it in ages so it was a nice treat & Noah certainly enjoyed himself…

I hope you all had a fab bank holiday, roll on the next one πŸ˜‰

Until next time,
