Blogmas Day Twenty Three: Homemade Christmas Cards 🌲

Hi guys! 👋🏻

I’ll just leave this here, just because….

It has to be done, every year.

So, I do try and make my Christmas cards every year and I have done for over 10 years now (Sayyyyy whatt, madnesss)

This year, with all the craziness I almost didn’t… but then I thought, let’s just scale it back a little, keep them simple and I just do it for my fambizzle.

So thats what I did… if you are family and are reading this, maybe don’t or your card might be on here 🤣🤣

I still had loads of festive paper left over so I used that as the main design as they are pretty ones.

My calligraphy leaves much to be desired but, be won’t worry about that.

I really liked the simple effect of using the gift tags as part of the design.

I actually really enjoyed making these again. I have utilised Moonapig this year, in order to send cards all over the place, so it was actually really nice to be making them again!

Prehaps I’ll get ahead for next year whilst I’m enjoying it and have more time. It’s nice to do things when you have the time to enjoy it and it doesn’t become a chore.

Right, I’m off to organise our round for the Festive Boxing Day Quiz (2020 stylyyyy obv)

Happy Christmas Eve, Eve!

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

Blogmas Day Three: Christmas Tree Brownies 🎄🍫

The great thing about Blogmas is I can try out loads of yummy recipes (for research purposes of course, you’re welcome 🤣)

So, yummy recipe no 1 is coming at you today!!

• C h r i s t m a s • T r e e •

• B r o w n i e s •

As always I used a BBC Good Food recipe as they are usually pretty fool proof and delicious.

The link is here .

These came out so well, are super chocolatey (I always add extra chocolate 🤦🏼‍♀️) & look how cute they are!!

I’m not as great at the finer detail when it comes to decorating things like this but, even I could do this haha! and I love how they turned out.

These would be great for a Christmas buffet table (and yes I am still having one even though there won’t be many of us, because come on 2020 or not… it’s Christmas & who doesnt love a buffet!!)

They would also make great gifts.

Here’s Day Three of my HP advent calender!

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

Chocolate Orange Brownies.

I thought I would do another recipe post and what better than brownies, Chocolate Orange ones none the less!!

Rich, gooey, indulgent and orangey.

I love baking and for any of my fellow Terry’s Choc orange lovers out there, you will LOVE this 👌🏻

My twin sister Sarah tagged me in the video for this recipe on Facebook. I will leave the details linked down below.

Chocolate Orange Brownie Recipe

❤🍊🍫😋

Ingredients

  • 150 g Dark Chocolate
  • 150

  • g Terry’s Chocolate Orange
  • 200

  • g Unsalted Butter
  • 3 large eggs (or 4 medium)
  • 275

  • g Caster Sugar
  • 90g Plain flour
  • 35

  • g Cocoa Powder
  • Zest

  • of 1 Orange (or 1tsp orange extract
  • 300g of Terry’s chocolate orange chopped

Before

After

I love the texture (& of course the taste) of the Choc orange segments that are pushed into the tops of the brownies, amazing.

These were so gooey & sticky and I am just obsessed with chocolate and cake and chocolate orange as a flavour combo so these were an absolute winner.

I took these to my Nieces 2nd birthday party and they went down a treat.

Let me know if you give these a go, and what you think of the recipe too.

DIY Easter baskets for kids 🐣🍫

Last year, as my nephews were a bit older, I decided to make them Easter baskets as a little treat, for Easter Sunday.

This year my niece is a bit older too and will be able to appreciate one as well as the boys, so I have decided to do them again.

I’ve been to a few different shops in order to get the little bits and bob’s for the baskets. I’ll list everything that I bought & the prices (if I can remember haha)

I like to make them personal to each child and get a mixture of chocolate and crafty/fun bits to make them more exciting and fun!

You will see from the pictures that I have popped some ‘non Easter’ food items into my nieces basket. She isn’t a massive chocolate fan (I don’t get it either!!) So I have got her a selection pack of some of her favourite oaty Goodies Bars.

This is a great way to make a basket for a much younger child, especially under 2’s who probably won’t have/need loads of chocolate.

Buckets, Asda £1.50

Luckily for me there were three different colours!

The top two baskets are for my nephews who are aged (almost) 3 & 4.

The bottom basket is for my niece who is (almost) 2.

Cadbury Boxless eggs (with buttons inside)

Plain Cadbury boxless egg, Tesco £1

Cadbury Disney egg heads, Tesco £1

Chick marshmallows, Asda large pack £3

They also did white bunny marshmallows too, for the same price.

Milk chocolate bunnies, Tesco 2 for £1.50

Milk chocolate lollies, Tesco 2 for £1.50

Chick gingerbread kits, Tesco from £1

I also picked up these little gingerbread chick kits.

If you had a bigger basket, hamper or if you just want another little activity to do with the kids then these are really fun and super easy to do. You get some tubes of icing and little packs of hundreds and thousands to decorate your chicks, in the pack and I can guarantee the kids will love them.

The non chocolate/edible items.

Easter activity books, Tesco £1

These have got stickers, colouring & arts and crafts activities inside them so they are great for adding a bit of Easter craft fun to the weekend and will certainly keep them occupied.

Large Easter bubble wands, Tesco £1 (or £1.50, I cant quite remember!)

Easter T-Shirt, Tesco F&F £6

They had a great selection of Easter themed clothing bits in Tesco, for both boys & girls and they were very cute!

Again, this is a great option for a younger child who may not be able to enjoy the arts & craft bits of the other baskets.

Some other shops that do great Easter bits include:

•B & M

•Poundland

•TK Maxx

• Other major supermarkets such as Aldi.

It’s so easy to create these super cute little Easter baskets, full of treats, without spending a fortune! & they are a fun way to create a Easter gift for the kids.

Let me know if you have a go and what bargains you managed to find!

Happy Easter 🐣

Until next time,

DIY occasion cards ✉

I’ve decided that 2018 is the year I’m going to get back in touch with my crafty/creative side. I really havn’t make enough time for it in the last few years, and although I had the excuse of a wedding to plan in 2016, there really is no reason for my lack of craft in 2017.

I REALLY enjoy being creative, from making cards for birthdays and different occasions, handmade gifts, adult colouring and so on, it’s just really relaxing, one of my favourite hobbies and the perfect excuse for a bit of ‘me time’ (something I definatly need to make more time for!!)

In this post I thought I would share with you the cards that I have made so far! They are all different birthday cards as another occasion hasn’t arisen yet.

I’ve also really enjoyed creating DIY hampers for birthday presents so I will be doing a post on these soon too (keep your eyes peeled)

Let’s take a look…

Tanya’s Christmas: Get inspired! Blogmas day 3 🎄

Hi guys!

To get prepared this Christmas I picked up Tanya Burr’s new book ‘Tanya’s Christmas’ Its full of recipes, gifting, gift wrapping, party, make up and just general christmas prep ideas to get those festive juices flowing.

I love this book, its so lovely to look through and so handy at this hectic time of year. Its an ultimate Christmas guide and its made me feel really festive and EXCITED for December and the big day in particular.

Tanya is one of my favourite Youtubers so I was really pleased when she released this book. I have chosen some of my favourite pieces from the book to share with you guys. Alot of them are baking ideas that I want to make in the lead up to Christmas and for Christmas day.

I hope you enjoy this little insight into the book, and who knows it might give you some Christmassy ideas too.

Lets take a look!

Make!

IMG_20171126_132026_080

I love the idea of making your own decorations and this arrangement by Tanya is so simple, yet so effective!

Its using natural resources such as dried oranges (beaut smell!!) pine cones and cinnamon sticks. A lovely fragrant display that you can arrange any way that you wish. I would probably swap out the cinnamon sticks as I’m not a fan of this scent, the beauty of this simple idea is that you can put your own twist on it and make it to match your theme. I like the idea of using pine branches and holly, as well as gold sprayed pine cones.

Bake!

Lets be frank, food is one of the best parts of Christmas so, I have picked out a few of the recipes in the book.

The first couple of recipes are ones that I want to make in the lead up to Christmas.

On the left is a tear and share Chocolate orange cookie. Chocolate orange is my ultimate fave and I love a Terry’s chocolate orange at Christmas, so instantly I was drawn to this. I will be making this in the lead up to Christmas because its going to be delicious and baking always gets me in a warm and cosy mood.

In the middle picture are rice crispy Christmas puddings. I want to have a go at making these with my Nephew Noah as I think these will be really fun to make together (& I’m sure his little bro Casey will help us taste test them along the way)

On the right are Smores biscuits. I want to make these for me, my husband, sister, brother in law and nephews to enjoy on Christmas eve! Super cosy.

IMG_20171126_132106_284

I’ve also chosen the ‘Chocolate brownie traybake with salted caramel ice cream’ to make for mine and Tim’s Christmas dinner dessert. Neither of us like the traditional Christmas pud so I always make us something chocolatey and indulgent and this is perfect.

Celebrate!

I love the section in the book with her Christmas traditions as well as Tanya’s viewers traditions too. These are really interesting to read, its cool to see how people spend their day and how their traditions differ from country to country.

This section is also great for those of you who want to add some new traditions to your Christmas routine and need some inspiration!

Some of our Christmas traditions include:

  • Christmas Lights
  • Christmas eve boxes
  • Stockings
  • Panto
  • Family word and board games

I won’t go into these too much as I have a post in the pipeline that focuses on these a bit more. I love traditions and they are very important to me, especially at this time of the year when I think it is really important to spend time with your loved ones and enjoy the simple pleasures and comfort that traditions can bring.

For those of you who love Christmas like I do, you will really enjoy this beautiful book. I grabbed mine from Amazon and I’ll leave the link below for you!

Today I thought I would show you my diy christmas cards so a word of warning to family & Friends, if you’re reading this your card may be similar to the ones featured haha.

I’ve been making cards for about 6/7 years now but I’ve had a little hiatus since making all our wedding invites! I thought Christmas was the perfect time to get back into it and I’ve really been enjoying making them again.

I popped into hobbycraft to get myself some new bits & pieces to make these with. I had all the basics and a couple of bits but I wanted to get some new things for this year.

I chose both red & green cards to make some traditional style ones as well as white ones too in order to go for a cool icy theme on some.

I chose holly, christmas tree, reindeer & polar bear embellishments and gold & silver writing that says Happy/Merry Christmas. I also got stickers to personalise some for different family members.

I also got these cute little ‘Handmade with love’stickers to add to the back of my cards to add a nice finishing touch.

Here are a few of the designs I have finished so far…

I hope you like my cards & designs!

Has this inspired you to get making?

In my beauty advent calender today…

Today I got another lipstick! Perfect for me as I just love them. This is a gorgeous bright pink colour. This would be great with a pinky make up look or to add a pop of colour. I don’t have a lipstick in this shade so again this will be a great addition to my make up collection.

Here it is on! I can’t wait to wear this, I love this shade 🌸
