Here’s a little sneak peek at how I’ve decorated my reading corner… I love fairy lights (any excuse!) And they look super cute with a few little other festive touches.
Super cosy!
Adding a few festive touches has made my reading corner even more cosy!
Annd I’ve even managed to not poke myself in the eye with one of the light up branches, whilst reading, so win win!
One of the best parts of Christmas is putting up your tree, so here’s ours!
I love putting up the tree, christmas jumpers on, christmas tunes blaring out… perfect!

I love the traditional red, gold and green of our decorations.
I wanted to update my reading corner recently. I am happy with the theme and colour scheme, as it fits well into the lounge where it is….
… I did however, need more space!
As I mentioned on my Instagram (RoseannesBlog) page, me and my husband recently went to Ikea and there is where I found my new bookcase! As well as a few other little bits to finish off the area
So, let’s take a look!
The new addition to my bookcase is the slim one nearest the wall. This is the Billy Bookcase from Ikea.
This bookcase is from the Billy Bookcase range and is just like my original case (also a Billy), but it works really well as a little case for a small space, or a add on to create a little extra space.
This was perfect for the space that I have for my reading corner.
I can’t wait to fill up my new shelves properly.
Here are some of the little bits that I’ve bought to add to the area.
I bought some plants to decorate the shelves, a cute pink lamp for my desk and a new swivel desk chair.
I’m really happy with the extra book space thats been created, without ruining the area that I have already prepared.
Its still super cosy too…even more so! And I can’t wait to enjoy my books in this area.
If you want to do Christmas on a budget, because let’s be honest, although we love the frills it’s all about the quality time, kindness and love that we share with our friends and family. Those are the things we remember.
But, that being said, I bloody love the decs! So heres a way to go full Christmas without breaking the bank, and we have Wilko to thank for it with their beautiful but incredibly reasonable Christmas decoration ranges.
I literally couldn’t choose between the cute tree decorations in this range (as it fits our Red, Gold & Green).
They would also make lovely gifts.

Wooden star tree, Β£3
Green metal tree, Β£2
Packs of 3 baubles, Β£4
Gingerbread biscuit car decoration, Β£1

They have loads of different ones in different variety packs and sizes.

Pom Pom Garland with bells, Β£6
Large bells silver and red, Β£1
I love this collection and it is one of a few that they have.
This one fits in perfectly with our red/gold/green theme.
They also have a icy collection that is lots of whites, silvers and blues, as well as a gold collection and a rose gold collection.
I have bought a few things from the alpine collection (I couldn’t resist!!) I also picked up a couple of the polar bears as I thought these were super cute and would be quite generic for any tree.
I’ve personalised these, with the year, to go into a few hampers that I’ve put together for family members.
One shop that is doing amazing Christmas decorations this year is Matalan.
They have a great mix of traditional and more modern decorations.
They also have a real mix of the types of decorations that they sell, from small tree decorations, tinsel, wreaths, tall standing nutcrackers, centrepieces, table clothes, sacks, stockings and so much more!
It’s all really affordable too.
I’ll try and include as much info about prices etc as I can ππ»
Let’s take a look!
I was literally in Christmas heaven browsing the aisles!!
Christmas throws, From Β£6
These look super cosy β€
They had a selection of different themed throws from the traditional Farisle patterned ones as well as tartan ones, reindeer and christmas tree patterned ones and block coloured ones, in various Christmas colours.
So, I had a couple of ideas of what to do for my next blog post but, I couldn’t decide which to do next. I took to Twitter (@RoseannesBlog) and asked my followers which one they would like to see, With a massive 75% of the vote was ‘Harry Potter room decor’.
When we moved into our flat my husband Tim chose the colour scheme for our bedroom and he went for red… little did he know that I would use this to transform it into a Harry Potter haven haha.
With Gryffindor being my favoured Hogwarts house this is the theme I went for as it went perfectly with the red colour scheme of the room, Lets take a look!
Lets start with bedding…
All of these pieces come from Primark (Bar one pillow which I received as a gift) On the left is my Harry Potter throw, its a lovely soft and snuggly white with the Gryffindor crest and other little pictures and symbols printed on it. Next up are the cushions, the pale, yellowy/brown coloured Mauraders map themed pillow was bought for me as a birthday present a few years ago. I love that it looks like the parchment of the map, with the print of the map on it. The other pillow is from Primark and its grey and red tones with the house crests on it. The bedding is so cool! Our bedroom furniture is from Ikea’s Malm range and is black so this bedding went perfectly. On one side it is all black with a large print of Hogwarts in white, the other side has small Hogwarts’s (Not sure that’s a word) printed onto white and a ‘H’ for Hogwarts, double sided, two for the price of one.
Next up…
I picked up both of these from the Harry Potter studios tour in Watford. On the left is a Gryffindor banner and on the right is a Gryffindor flag. These are hung up on the red feature wall, either side of the window.
I also hang up my Gryffindor scarf over the headboard of our bed to add a touch of Gryffindor to the bed spread. I picked this up from the studio tour too.
Pictures…
I love these two prints. On the left is one from Primark that my older sister bought for me. I love this and it fitted perfectly in our room as it came with the black frame. I love the copper lightening bolts.
The other print I bought online and I really like the simplicity of this too. All black and super simple but cool.
and finally, accessories…
I love these pieces, they are so awesome!! The candle is from Primark. I of course picked up the Gryffindor one but it also comes in the different houses too and a generic Hogwarts one (which I’m also tempted to get too) The bunting also comes from Primark and is EPIC! This is one of my favourite things.
The Gryffindor common room sign came from a recent Harry Potter event that me and my sister went to. I thought this was a cool little addition as our room definatly has Gryffindor common room/dormitory vibes! (Still trying to persuade Tim that we need drapes)
I hope you enjoyed this post π
If you are on the look out for any Harry Potter items yourself (or clothes, shoes etc) be sure to check out Primark as their range is beyond awesome.
This first post is all about the decorations. I absolutely LOVEΒ homeware, adding those little (or big!) items that just make a room perfect, cosy & super pretty.
And what could be better than combining two of your favourite things,,, decorations & Christmas!!
Lets take a look at what I’ve got in my little Festive haul…
First up, we bought a new tree!
‘Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas treee’
Our current tree is a little worse for wear so we picked a new artificial one from Sainburys for Β£25. It is a 6ft green tree, not too encroaching, just right for our little lounge π
Next up, some decorations for said tree…
Glitter balls
Mini glitter baubles
12 pack of glitter baubles; Mini gold star, shaker baubles.
These were also from Sainbury’s and were Β£6. These are so cute because they are mini and they will look so pretty when they are on the tree, contrasting with the green branches, And who doesn’t love glitter sprinkles?!?
‘Jingle bells’
Little pud!
6 pack of Christmas pudding bell baubles.
These Christmas pudding bells are super cute and look so festive hanging on the tree. I love the rustic feel to them, the little star cut out and their soft jingle. These were also from Sainbury’s and were Β£6.
Green glitter ball
Chunky green, glitter bauble.
This bauble is so pretty. Green is my absolute favourite colour (and not just because its super festive… although it helps haha) but also for the Autumnal feel , especially this shade of green.
Its quite a large bauble and is covered in fine dark green and gold glitter. It is then covered in emerald green sequins too. This is going to look so pretty when it catches the light.
It was also from Sainsbury’s and was Β£1.50.
‘We’re walking in the airrrr’
Flying snowman decoration.
This little guy is adorable and I love how he looks like he is flying through the sky! It kinda reminds me of the classic Christmas film ‘The Snowman’ plus he’s glittery!! winner.
This was Β£2.99 in a local garden centre.
GLITTER!
Bronze/Dark gold glitter maple leaf decoration.
This leaf decoration is quite simple but looks lovely in this bronzy/gold glitter. This is also quite autumnal but with a glittery, festive touch. This was 75p in Asda.
A letter to Santa
Felt Santa Claus letter hanging decoration
This little decoration is so cute, a little letter to Santa! Loving the festive colours too. This was Β£1 from Asda.
Lets move onto lights!
Gold star fairy lights
‘Twinkle Twinkle little star’
Gold star lights
These little lights are so cute. I love how they look like mini cookie cutters and I love the gold colour too, they give off a lovely warm glow when they are turned on.
Berrytastic!
Festive berry lights
These little lights are so cute. There are three different coloured bulbs, a warm yellow bulb, a iridescent white bulb and a festive, berry red bulb. These look great in our lounge, I Love them.
Red X-MAS bulb lights.
These are SO COOL. I love bulb light signs like these, if you’ve been round here for a while you’ll know we had a white ‘R & T’ version at our wedding which I still have in our lounge. I also have a red star in our kitchen from last Christmas, as red is the accent colour in there.
Who else loves a bit of home decor?! Its great, right! We have been doing a lot of sorting out in our flat recently and upgrading the furniture etc that was looking a bit tatty and so on.
Are all the things we’ve bought essential, no? Is it all pretty & lovely and just super cool, obv!!!
So I thought I would share with you the bits we picked up, big and small. I will include as much info as poss.
