My Harry Potter Hen do β˜†

This time last week I was en route to my Hen do. It was such an awesome weekend, here’s what we got up to!

Saturday 7th May

My auntie picked me and Tims mum up and we set off for the hen do around 1pm. My sisters, who organised the hen do kept the location a secret from me so I kept a look out for sign posts as we were on our way.

At 3pm we arrived in Watford, found our car park, checked into the travelodge where we were staying and waited for everyone to arrive.

Me, Sarah & Charlotte shared a room.

‘The chamber of secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir beware.’

image

We all had Hogwarts house bunting in our rooms (We were Gryffindor of course!) And a Golden Snitch chocolate on our pillows.

image

image

After a trip to the shops and a quick Krispy Kreme we went back to our rooms and got ready for dinner and drinks.

A table was booked for us at GBK and Sarah & Charlotte had decorated the table to a Harry Potter theme…

image

So cool.

image

We also had goodie bags with House ties to wear, chocolate frogs, Bertie Botts beans and wand biscuits!!

image

image

The food was delicious. For a review of GBK check out my blog post from a few weeks ago here.

After dinner we walked along the town centre to find a bar and decided on a Australian bar called Walkabout. We had a sticker for a free shot so why not!

They did really yummy cocktails and some interesting shots. We stayed here until gone midnight drinking our cocktails and dancing the night away.

We made our way back to the hotel just after 12 ready for the next days events. I still didn’t know what we were doing or why we were in Watford!!!

Sunday 8th May

Sunday started off with breakfast in the hotel resturant.

After breakfast Sarah & Charlotte got me changed ready for the days events…

In keeping with the Harry Potter theme… Can you guess who I am??

Hedwig the owl.

Some of the others had dressed up too…

And now for the best moment of my life, to date.

>Check out my first post here.

image

I’m going to do an update every week for the last month to document it all coming together, plus the more I blog about what is done and ready the less ill stress about what isn’t haha.

So watch this space…

The big day will be here before we know it!

Wedding update no 10 β™‘

Excuse the long post but I haven’t done a wedding update for a little while as I’ve been so busy!! Here’s what we’ve been busy with…

Flowers

image

On Monday 18th (April) the ladies who are creating my wedding flowers came round. They brought along my bouquet for me to haveΒ  a look at as well Tims buttonhole and two options for the bridesmaids bouquets.

It was great to see all my flower choices together in the bouquet and they were arranged beautifully! I’m really pleased with them, so much so I didn’t want to give them back!!

We will meet up at the end of May with the final bouquets and buttonholes finished. I can’t wait to see them once they are done.

Vows/ceremony choices
image

We have finally decided on all our readings and music for the ceremony and signing of the register.

We sat down together and chose our vows, we picked some that are the same and some that are different.Β  Yesterday I sent off our choices to the registry office so that they can start writing the script for our big day. It’s getting very real now!!

The wedding dress
I had my final dress fitting on Wednesday 20th (April). They had taken it in at the back as there was a bit of a gape and they replaced the hook & eye at the back with a popper to ensure that it stayed done up

I’m so pleased with how it looks, I was a little unsure with the shape last time but because they’ve taken it in at the back it’s pulled it in and made it a lovely shape on me. I can’t wait to wear it on the big day with my shoes, veil & tiara, with my hair and make up done nicely! Exciting!!

Gifts

At the moment we are in the process of buying the gifts and things for the wedding party, I’m really pleased with what we’ve got so far. I likelovebuying gifts for people, getting something you know they’ll like.

We’re trying to get all the gifts sorted now as in May (ahh it’s here already!!) the final payments are due.

Bridesmaid shoe shopping
image

On Sunday 24th (April) me, mum and my three bridesmaids went shopping in Norwich
We thought it would be nice to make a day of it and go somewhere a bit different.

There are lots of shoe shops in Norwich so we had plenty of choice, which is great as the bridesmaids were all looking for something a little different from one another. Charlotte and Sarah were looking for sandals as Charlotte is quite tall already and Sarah will be heavily pregnant therefore comfort is essential! Roxy on the other hand was looking for heels

Once we’d looked around a few shops we stopped for lunch at GBK and met Auntie Frances.

image

Once we were refuelled we looked around some more shops!

Sarah picked up some lovely sandals in Primark for Β£8 they are really pretty and a bargin at that price. They are cream with lovely jems and pearls up the strap. I fancied getting a pair myself haha. Charlotte found some lovely nudey/pink sparkly sandals in Shoe zone for only Β£7.99 and Roxy found some nice patent, cream strappy heels in Mr shoe outlet for Β£15!

I’m so glad everyone has found some shoes that they are happy with! That’s one more thing ticked off the list.

Payments
we’ve now paid off a few of the final things as a lot are due this month and some don’t require numbers of guests etc.
Paid
●Decorations
●Car
●DJ
●Venue

It’s going to be an expensive month!!

The final guest list
We have now gone past the RSVP deadline so last night me and Tim put together the final guest list. We went through to make sure we had first and surnames for everyone as we need to write place cards sooner rather than later. It’s all coming together now.

I think that’s covered everything! I’m super excited for this weekend as it’s my Hen do!! It’s been kept as a complete suprise from me so I can’t wait to find out what we are doing. I will do a separate blog post on this when I get back.

37 days to go β™‘β˜†

Date night β™‘

Yesterday me and Tim decided to have a date night. Tim is very busy with work at the moment and we havnt had much opportunity to spend time together so, we took the evening off and went to see a film and have dinner.

The films started at 6.40pm so we watched it before eating. We went to see Eye in the sky (2016). It’s a suspense thriller starring Helen Mirran and the late Alan Rickman, exploring the morality of modern warfare.

image

We both really enjoyed the film  and it had you on the edge of your seat numerous times.

Apart from a good trailer I also wanted to see this film because it was Alan Rickmans last live action performance before he died, he was brilliant in it.

After the film we made our way to Nandos (One of our favourite places to eat out) and ordered some dinner.

image

It was super delicious!

image

In fact our starter of Red pepper dip with warm pitta bread was so good we gobbled it before I could take a picture haha.

image

I had the butterfly chicken, Mango & lime, with a side of spicy rice and salad.

image

Tim had a double chicken breast wrap, mango and lime with a double side of garlic bread and perinase.

So yummy!

It was a lovely evening and I love spending time with my favourite β™‘

Eating out: GBK

One of my favourite places to eat out is Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK).

Now, as you’ll know from my previous blog I am on Slimming World, but I’m a firm believer in everything in moderation and allowing yourself a treat every now and then and GBK is definatly a treat!

image

We visited the one in Chapelfield mall in Norwich on Sunday.

image

I had their classic chicken burger (regular size) and you can have it either chargrilled or panko crumbed & fried, I had mine with the panko crumb and it was really tasty! The chicken breast was huge!! It also came with salad and a yummy relish in it. It was Β£8.65

image

I also got a regular skinny chips, these are my favourite and a MUST at GBK.

image

I thought I’d try one of their dips as I like something to dip my chips in. I went for the garlic mayo and it was to die for, it packs quite a punch so I’d only recommend it to those that are fond of garlic, I love it!
I’ll definatly be having that again.
The chips were Β£2.95 & the dip was Β£1.25

image

I had a Diet Coke with my meal, that came in a glass bottle and was served with ice and a slice, lovely and refreshing. Β£2.60

My sister got one of their refillable fizzy drinks, it was strawberry and elderflower. It was really tasty and refreshing as it came with lots of ice and fresh mint leaves. This is great as you can refill it as many times as you like for Β£2.45.

I was being relatively good this time as my Hen Do is soon (Eek!) But there are a few other sides and things that I would recommend:

● House onion rings Β£3.55
●Halloumi bites Β£3.75
●Milkshakes from Β£4.30

The milkshakes are so good and they are great with a meal or as an alternative to a dessert (which is what I usually do!) I’m particularly fond of the Oreo flavoured one, although there are the usual flavours (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla) as well as more premium ones such as the Oreo, salted caramel and more.

Me and my sisters are hoping to go to Norwich for mine & Sarah’s birthday so I will definatly be having some of these that time, yum yum.

If your a real lover of food like me GBK is definatly worth a go!

Until next time,

Cheese & Bacon twists!

I thought I’d share with you a yummy recipe that I first came across on a cooking show ‘Home cooking made easy’.

The recipe is by chef Lorraine Pascal and it’s so quick and easy!

Cheese and bacon twists

Here’s what you’ll need… 4 simple ingredients.

image

β—‹ Parma ham
β—‹ Puff pastry
β—‹ Grated Cheddar cheese
β—‹ Cracked black pepper

Here’s how I did it…

1. Lay out the pastry and cover with cheddar cheese, press the cheese into the pastry.

image

2. Grind black pepper onto the cheese and pastry. Cut into strips about 2 cms wide.

3. Lay a slice of parma ham on each strip.

4. Hold an end in each hand and twist in opposite directions until you have a tight twist that holds together.

image

5. Flatten at the ends to seal. Place on a baking tray evenly spread apart.

image

6. Cook at 200’c for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Don’t they look great…

image

image

These are delicious served warm from the oven or cold in a packed lunch. A yummy snack!

Here is the link to Lorraine Pascal recipe if you’d like to check that out too.

Enjoy!

Until next time,Β

Celebratory afternoon tea!

Yesterday I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea with the ladies from work. They organised it for me to celebrate my upcoming nuptials. They are unable to attend my Hen Do so we had a mini one together.

We decided to dress up for the occasion, here’s my outfit…

image

I love the colours navy, white and red together and this super cute dress was in Quiz! It took me a whole afternoon of shopping to find this and it was in the last shop I went in. Β£25 was great too as I will definatly get alot of wear out of this.

image

To accessories I painted my nails red, popped on my white sandals with a small heel and my red rose earrings. I loved this look.

image

I used my BB cream, pink blusher and Cor Balmy lip balm in shade Jam Jar, which is a red tone, to add a pop to the look.

Now back to the good bit…CAKE!

We had such a yummy selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones!

image

We had:

β—‹ An egg finger sandwich.
β—‹ A mini cream cheese & salmon bagel.
β—‹ A sausage roll.
β—‹ A open prawn sandwich.
β—‹ A cheese scone with cream cheese & tomato.
β—‹ A lemon cheesecake.
β—‹ A chocolate Γ©clair.
β—‹ An apple turnover.
β—‹ A scone with clotted cream & jam.
β—‹ A lemon macaroon.
β—‹ A cupcake with vanilla frosting.

image

And lots of tea of course!

The guys got me a pink heart balloon and a ‘Bride to be’ sash which was cool!

image

It was really yummy and it was lovely to enjoy it together out of work!

The Salthouse hotel is really nicely decorated and has lots of unique pieces.

image

Afternoon tea is one of my favorite things and the Salthouse hotel is a must for anyone who enjoys it too.

Until next time,

A relaxing afternoon.

After work I met my sister, brother in law and nephew at this really cool cafe/bar just around the corner from mine.

It’s decorated really well and has lots of unique and random bits in it, but together it works

image

We settled down and ordered some tea, soft drinks and a HUGE slice of red velvet cake!

!image

Noah especially enjoyed the cake…

image

As well as a cuppa and cake they also do yummy breakfast, lunches and operate as a student bar in thr evening.

Once I got home I decided to run myself a bath. We’ve had hot water problems for 2 weeks and it’s finally fixed! So, I wanted to take advantage of it.

image

Candles, a Lush bath bomb & a book πŸ›€πŸΌ

My friend Kirsty got me the Lush box set for my birthday.

image

It had loads of lovely bits in it.

image

I used The comforter bubble bar

You also get Rub Rub Rub Shower scrub

It made my skin SO soft!! I love this product.

Love & Light hand cream.
This light neroli and orange blossom lotion will fit your hand like a glove.

I can’t wait to try out the other products.
