Half term diaries pt 1

Hi guys!

I thought I would document my half term, here on my blog. After all, I started this blog to capture memories, and so I thought that since I have a few things planned this week, this would be a nice way to document them.

Friday 15th February 2019

Half term is here!!

And what better way to roll in the half term than a delicious meal with a friend.

Me & my friend Steph met up for a long over due catch up at Wagamamas.

I tried a few things that I hadn’t had before and it was super delicious.

Then we rounded the evening off with a trip to Creams, a nearby dessert restaurant.

They do amazing crepes 😍

Saturday 16th February 2019

Me & my hubby Tim spent the day relaxing at a local spa ‘Aqua Springs’. This was our Valentine’s treat and a great opportunity to relax and spend some time together.

We rounded off the day with a couple of games of Cluedo with my mum and dad.

I’ve been wanting to play for ages but it’s not so good with just 2 players so we’ve had to wait.

I love their original Cluedo board!!

Unfortunately, I was the only one who didn’t win a game πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

Sunday 17th February 2019

Today, me & Tim visited my uni friend Kirsty and her little ones in London.

It was lovely to have a much needed catch up and Tim got to meet the newest edition to the gang, little Bella.

We had a great time chatting, playing some silly games and eating pizza.

Monday 18th February 2019

Today me and my friends Steph met up again, but this time in the day time so that I could see her boys too.

We had a lovely time at the soft play centre, a bit of lunch and then back to hers for a cuppa and a chat.

In the evening we went round to my mother in laws to see her and give her, her birthday present.

Another nice cuppa and a catch up to round off the day.

Tuesday 19th February 2019

Today me and my older sister Charlotte, and my niece Evie, went for Afternoon tea.

We successfully resisted any treats in the staff Room for the whole of the half term, and this was our reward.

We havn’t been here for Afternoon tea before but it didn’t disappoint!

There were four different finger sandwiches each (Chicken, Tuna, Cheese & Ham)

And a lovely warm sausage roll 😍

There was also a scone with cream and jam and a assortment of cakes, very nice!

Once we had finished we got the bus back into town, visited Elmer and then went back to Charlottes for a play.

What have you been up to this half term?

What I eat in a day πŸ΄πŸ€—

As you may or may not know from my blog, I follow the Slimming World plan.

Disclaimer: This isn’t a plug for Slimming World! I just want to show you what I can eat in a day on this plan, how yummy some of the food is & some of the food & snacks I enjoy the most πŸ‘

Let’s start with my favourite meal, breakfast

A standard breakfast for me is something along the lines of Weetabix or porridge topped with banana or berries. On the weekends I love having a cooked brekky but during the week this hits the spot πŸ‘Œ

This is usually accompanied with a coffee or tea β˜•

Snacks

Now working in a school means that we have a break time mid morning. I am usually quite hungry by then and there are a few things I like to have for Snack… I obviously don’t have these all on the same day, these are just some of my faves.

Crisps: Aldi Sour cream & chive pitta crisps 5.5 syns

Aldi honey and granola bites 1 syn each

Mallow & Marsh bar, raspberry marshmallow covered in dark chocolate 7 syns

Lots of fruit πŸŠπŸŒπŸŽπŸπŸπŸ“

Lunch

Here’s a typical lunch for me, I obviously mix it up as I’m not one of these people who can have the same lunch, day in, day out.

This yummy salad bowl consisted of salad leaves, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage & beetroot served with chicken slices, ham & cottage cheese.

I will usually have a mugshot alongside a salad as well as some more fruit & a Yoghurt too.

Dinner

This was one of the yummiest Slimming World meals I have made so far, Crispy chicken with loaded potatoes skins & homemade coleslaw πŸ˜‹

The Crispy coating is made from dipping the chicken in beaten egg & then coating it in seasoned Smash powder. I filled the potatoes skins with a mix of the potatoes, spring onion, ham, cheese, salt & pepper. Tasty!

I made the coleslaw using a combination of shredded Carrot, onion & red cabbage mixed with light mayo.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you would like any of the recipes in full let me know πŸ‘

Holiblog 2: The food 🍕🍝

Food is of course one of the reasons why we love Italy, pizza, pasta, gelato, what more do you need right?!

Thankfully we have been able to sample all of these whilst we have been on our honeymoon but Sardinian food has been quite different to what we’ve had in Italy before as well, lots of seafood 🐟🐙

The hotel offers a buffet which has an amazing selection, let’s start with breakfast! Anything you could possibly think of to have for breakfast is on offer and you can go up as many times as you like, it doesn’t get much better than that!

They do a cooked breakfast which is nice alongside the continental options which is the only option at alot of hotels. They’ll even make omelettes for you with lots of yummy fillings 🍳🍞🍅

The Homemade waffles are one of my favourite bits of breakfast. I’m not normally into waffles much but these are so fresh and tasty 😋

Now dinner, they serve dinner a bit differently here but you defiantly won’t go hungry that’s for sure.

First up, starter is a buffet, again with a huge selection to choose from! Salads, bread, seafood salads, meat, cheese & some hot bits too.

Here are some of our favourites…

Tomatoes & mozzarella (Caprese salad) and mozzarella in breadcrumbs, cheese overload but so delicious. I also really liked the squid and selection of Italian meats on offer.

After the starter you choose from 5 dishes as your ‘first plate’ usually some sort of pasta…

This is a delicious veggie lasagne we  had one night as our first plate.

Then you choose from 5 different dishes for your ‘second plate’ These are usually some sort of meat or fish…

This is a pork and sausage skewer with ratatouille.

The desserts are also in the form of a buffet too.

My favourite Italian sweet item is of course their Gelato 🍦🍧

We found a lovely ice cream place on our walk to Puerto Cervo one afternoon, it was run by a lovely and very enthusiastic American lady, here we sampled a few flavours each. Tim had fragola (strawberry), banana & watermelon. I had Nutella & coconut.

A few days ago we noticed that our hotel has its own Gelataria so we went and sampled some there too (be rude not too). Here we are eating lemon & mint choc chip.

We are half board so for lunches we have been having snacks at the hotel or looking out for places to go out to eat. We found a lovely resturant in Puerto Cervo and had some delicious tagliatelle au ragu…

This, like most meals, alongside bread rolls, is served with Sardinian bread…

It’s paper thin and usually seasoned with sea salt or rosemary, delicious.

Yesterday (much to Tim’s delight) we found a pizzeria whilst we were on Madalina Island…

You honestly cannot beat authentic Italian food, if you’ve not been to Italy, go! Seriously.

And on that note I’m very hungry and am now going to find some lunch! 😁😋

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, let me know. 👍👎

Until next time,
