Blogmas Day Nineteen: Mince Pie taste testing πŸ₯§

Only 6 days to go guys! Less than a week πŸŽ„

During December, me and my friend at work have been trying out different mince pies. We work together two days so on a Monday I would bring one in and on a Thursday she would bring one in.

We got to try six different mince pies during this time, and we rated them to see which ones we preferred.

We tried the following Mince Pies:

  • Aldi Specially Selected
  • Gregg’s Bakery
  • Sainsburys Shortcrust Bakery
  • M&S Puff Pastry
  • Waitrose Extra Special
  • Co op Locally Sourced

β€’ The Rankings β€’

We went for a few categories to score each mince pie on, these were:

My favourite Slimming World snacks!Β

As you may know from previous posts (or not? hello if you’re new πŸ‘‹) I follow the Slimming World (SW) plan. We shop at Aldi and they do amazing snacks & treats that are great on SW so I thought I would share with you my favourites!

So here they are…

Let’s start with savoury as I have less of them:

  • Cup Shotz. This is Aldi’s version of  a mugshot and its 100% free! The chicken and sweet & sour flavours are free, not all are.

  • Aldi’s crisps are amazing! The cheese curls are 3 syns and the melts are 4 syns. They make such great snacks & are excellent value for money too.

Next up, Sweet treats:

  • Brooklea light yoghurts. These are sooo tasty and free. I only discovered these on our shop today and they are fab. I picked them up in vanilla and toffee flavour. (These are free a couple of the flavours are 0.5 syn)

  • Crispy oats & honey granola bites. These are fab with a tea or coffee, crispy, oaty and delicious.

  • Sweet and salty popcorn. This is so yummy and great as a snack or for the cinema. I love the combo of sweet and salty and this big bag is 6 syns. These are also available in multipacks and those bags are only 2.5 syns each!!

  • These groovy bars are a delicious chocolatey biscuit fix to satisfy those sweet cravings. These are 6 syns each.

So those are a few of my favourites! I hope you’ve found it useful and discovered some yummy treats that you can pick up from a local supermarket.

I thought I would quickly mention some Easter favs and their syn values, there are a few that you can enjoy on plan and to me this is amazing, diet? What diet?

  • Cadbury creme eggs, 9 syns each.
  • Cadbury mini eggs, 1 syn each.
  • Malteaser mini bunnies, 3 syns each.

Enjoy πŸ‘Œ & don’t forget to treat yourself!!

Until next time,

August favourites πŸ€—

I’ve wanted to do a favourites post for ages but I’ve never got round to it. I might have mentioned some of these things in other posts but these are a few things that I have been loving this month.

First up, beauty & skincare…

I have definatly mentioned these first two before and I am still loving these so much!

Maybelline brow satin in the shade ‘Medium Brown’. This is a make up staple for me now, it’s so easy to apply.

Bourjois Rough velvet edition in the shade 07 ‘Nude-ist’. This glides on really nicely and dries matte. I πŸ’Ÿ this liquid lipstick, it’s my favourite out of all of my lipsticks. πŸ’„

Revolutions New Pro Glow highlighter palette. These colours are so beautiful and shimmery. I particularly like the gold shades as I haven’t tried these in a highlighter before.

And finally…

Niveas intensive hydration after sun moisturiser. We discovered this on our honeymoon and it was perfect to apply after being in the sun all day and for making your skin feel really fresh and rich in moisture.

I love the smell of this too as it takes me right back to our honeymoon…ahhh β›±

Next up, fashion.

I love this t-shirt from Primark. I love the stripes and the heart patch is super cute. This was only Β£5.

I’ve been wearing my new Havaianas a lot this month! We’ve had some pretty nice weather so these have been perfect and they are super comfy.

These were only Β£21 after my 10% discount, I got them in Office.

Let’s talk books…

I love reading and it’s one of my favourite hobbies. These two I have particularly enjoyed and they are by two of my favourite authors.

The first one I’ll talk about is ‘That girl from nowhere’ by Dorothy Koomson.

‘Clemency Smittson was adopted as a baby and the only connection she has to her birth mother is a cardboard box hand-decorated with butterflies. Now an adult, Clem moves to Brighton, where she was born, and meets someone who knows all about the butterfly box and what happened to her birth parents.’

This was one of the books I read on our honeymoon and I couldn’t put it down!

I’d also recommend her novel ‘Goodnight, beautiful’ that I read this month too.

I am currently reading ‘See me’ by Nicholas Sparks. I’m up to chapter 8 and I’m loving it already, his novels are just so easy to read.

‘Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. At 28, he’s focused on getting his teaching degree and avoiding all the places and people that proved so destructive in his past. The last thing he’s looking for is a serious relationship. But when he crosses paths with Maria Sanchez one rainswept night, his carefully structures life is turned upside down.’

And finally, food!

A couple of food items that I’ve really been enjoying this month both come from Aldi. This is where we do our weekly shop so I just picked these up to give them a try and ended up loving them.

This fizzy drink is Raspberry and Mint flavour, it is so refreshing and tastes so fresh and yummy.

The Granola squares in the picture above ☝ are super tasty! They are ‘Crispy oats & Honey Granola bites’ little squares of oaty goodness, be careful though, they are super moreish πŸ™Š

What have you been enjoying the month? Let me know 😎

Until next time,
