Blogmas day 17: The Panto

Every Christmas The Wolsey theatre in my home town does a rock n roll panto! It’s full of fun, laughs, colour & songs and this year was no exception. The panto this year was;

I was unsure about it when I heard what the panto was going to be as I don’t really know the story of Sinbad but it didn’t disappoint! It was quite cool not knowing the story and what was going to happen next actually.

Me & Tim go every year as a little Christmas tradition but he had his work Christmas meal on the day we booked the tickets (obviously not realising at the time) so I went with my sister Sarah instead.

It was so good, the songs were great and the set and costumes were really good too. All the actors are so talented playing all their different instruments, singing & acting.

I would definatly recommend going to see a panto it’s so much fun 😊

Me & Tim are going to try and get him some tickets so we can go together, we don’t want him to miss out!!

In my beauty advent calender today…

Todays was a lovely shimmery sheer lip gloss. I’m definatly getting a good collection of lip glosses now, but since I like lip products I don’t mind!

What’s yours favourite lip product/s?

8 days to go!

Festive Lush Haul ❄ Day 16

I grabbed a few items from Lush’s festive range when I was in town with my sister last week and I thought I would share them with you.

Here’s what I got:

  • Butter bear
  • So white
  • Star dust
  • Father Christmas

Let’s start with Butter bear;

‘Father Christmas gets softening, Fair Trade cocoa butter from the Colombian Peace Community of San JosΓ© de ApartadΓ³ especially for his gentle polar pal. Pop him into the water to infuse your bath with a warm and creamy perfume and dreamy softness for sublime skin. This comforting bear is also filled with fragrant cocoa powder and calming ylang ylang to melt hearts young and old.’

This was one of my favourites, it smells so good, is super cute and I love the ones that make your skin feel all soft and smooth as well as clean.

Price: Β£1.95

Up next; ‘So white’…

‘Snow White had a tough time of it. If you too are likely to spend Christmas day evading evil stepmothers, stroppy mirrors, not to mention cooking and cleaning for seven singing men, you certainly deserve a dip in the bath. Crisp, apple-scented waters, as pure as the driven snow, fizz and foam, while bergamot oil and rose absolute restore peace and calm. At the core, a heart of fruity, uplifting neroli oil and orange flower absolute is sure to revive your (Christmas) spirit.’

It looks & smells amazing in the bath as the colours comes through…

It makes the water this gorgeous dark green with the yellow and blue mixed together from the core, festive!

Price: Β£3.75

Star dust

‘Follow yonder twinkling, shimmering star all the way to the bathroom. The earthy spice of rosewood harmonises with the sweetness of vanilla absolute and bergamot oil for rejuvenating celestial waters. If you need a little post-party recovering this Christmas, just look skyward. Note: wise men not included.’

Price: Β£2.95

Father Christmas

‘Before making this, Father Christmas must have stopped at a sweet shop for stocking fillers because it smells like freshly spun candy floss. Soak away the hours in sweet, mouthwatering waters as the blushing red of Santa’s cheeks fizz away to reveal a vivid, holly-green centre.

I havnt tried this one out yet but I can’t wait as I love sweet smelling ones.

Price: Β£3.75

I hope you enjoyed this mini Lush Haul!

What are your favourite festive treats from Lush? Any recommendations?

As you’ll know from previous posts (Beauty advent calender) I have a beauty advent calender this year for the first time! In today’s window I got…

A mini compact mirror. This is so cute & super handy to pop into your bag.

It’s a lovely matte black finish with ‘Join the Revolution, Make up Revolution London’ written in rose gold/copper on the front. So cute.

What have you guys got in your beauty advents? What’s your favourite piece so far?

Christmas home haul: Blogmas day 14

As you’ll have guessed by now I love this time of year! So I decided to show you some of the home bits that I have been picking up throughout late November & December so far.
This candle is a lovely frosted matte red colour with snowflake patterns on it.

Inside its silver with the red snowflakes printed on. It’s so pretty ❄

I also picked up this candle holder…

This is like a clear bottle with a gold glitter star on the front. There is a gold frame suspended inside the bottle for a tea light to sit in, super cute! 🌟

These both came from Tiger and were not more than Β£3 each.

Also from Tiger my lovely friends got me this cute little lantern light. I didn’t technically buy this so I’m unsure of the price.

It’s a lovely ceramic matte lantern with little holes in it. It looks lovely and snowy and when it’s lit it like a starry sky…

I also picked up these little Yankee candle wax melts. I picked these up from a garden centre and I can’t wait to burn these in my wax burner.

‘Christmas cookie’ is so yummy smelling and smells just like Christmas baking. ‘Strawberry buttercream’ isn’t particularly Christmassy  but it smells sooooo good. I really want to pick up ‘Candy Cane lane’ before Christmas as it is super christmassy & smells so fresh and minty.

& finally Christmas bedding β™‘

I love this so much and I can’t wait to put this on closer to Christmas πŸŽ…

I love the pattern, it’s so cute with little Father Christmas’s, penguins & reindeer with little red stars. This comes from Asda and was only Β£12.

I love Christmas and these little additioms make me feel even more festive 🌲

What have you guys found for your home to add a touch of Christmas?

My beauty advent calender…

In today’s window I got a mono eyeshadow in the colour ‘New tral red’. This is quite different to the eyeshadows I have but I think this would go really well with some of the pieces I’ve got for my Christmas make up look so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Feeling festive πŸŽ„β˜ƒ Blogmas day 13

I am so glad I had pre written this post as I’m ill & couldn’t face it today! Horrah for pre planning.

So now that we are just over halfway to the big day it’s important to make sure you are feeling christmassy! So, if your not what can you do? Look no further!

1. Christmas songs: These always put me in the Christmas spirit, you only listen to these songs around this time of year so they’ll hopefully bring back festive memories & who doesn’t love a good sing song.

2. Christmas shopping: I know this can be a bit stressful but if you choose when/where you go wisely it can be really fun looking for the perfect gifts & maybe a few christmassy bits for yourself.
3. And if your ahead with your Christmas shopping why not do some wrapping? This will save you time later and it always makes me feel super festive.

4. Blogmas, yeah it’s a bit late to start it now but why not read some blogmas blog post to get you into the festive spirit? I love reading other people’s traditions/thoughts & celebrations of Christmas.

5. Put up your Christmas decorations: Being surrounding by decorations, tinsel & lights will definatly make it feel like Christmas is on its way. Why not get a few updated decorations or additios to your tree, for this year?!

6. Write or make your Christmas cards: It’s good to send these off around mid December anyway and it’s like wrapping in that it makes your feel festive. Make sure you write a list first though, you don’t want to miss anyone out.

7. Christmas markets: These are so lovely & great for getting the family together too. They are really festive, super cute and can be great to pick up unique Christmas pressies. I got myself a lovely snowflake brooch from a market recently & it’s so pretty.❄

8. Make Christmas plans: Decide what you are going to do on the big day & afterwards (Christmas eve too) This will get you organised and excited, again get family involved & make lots of fun plans together.

9. Go and see a Christmas film or show: Every year me & Tim go and see the Christmas rock n roll panto at our local theatre. It always makes me feel super christmassy and they are so much fun to watch. There are always a few Christmas films out at the cinema around this time of year, failing that pop your favorite Christmas dvd on πŸ‘

10. Christmas baking: Grab a gingerbread cutter or a cupcake set and get baking. Your home will be filled with the delicious scents of Christmas and home baking, what more could you want?! And then there’s the taste testing afterwards of course. These are also great to share with Family & Friends. (Who doesn’t love a homade Christmas pressies? especially an edible one)

What makes you feel christmassy?  What are your Christmas traditions?

Today in my beauty advent calender…

Today I got this lovely bronzer! It’s a matte non shiny bronzer so this would be great to bronze & Contour too.

‘Mr & Mrs’ Christmas: Blogmas day 12Β

So yesterday was mine & Tim’s 6 month wedding anniversary, where has that time gone?!?! 😱 I can’t believe it’s been half a year since our amazing day.

This Christmas will of course be our first one as a married couple, so how are we making it special? How is it different as husband & wife?

Well I’m not sure it’s massively different to be honest haha but here are a few ways we are making it special;

1. Mr & Mrs decoration; as one of our wedding presents we got a Mr & Mrs wedding decoration. This is really cute & looks lovely on out tree.

Best friends for life husband & wife πŸ’—’

2. Personalised Christmas cards; As I’m making our Christmas cards this year I thought it would be cute to get some christmassy stickers personalised to say ‘Merry Christmas from Mr & Mrs Byford’

I got these on eBay and they are really cute & festive. I’m going to put one on each card to seal them.

3. Wedding photos: Tim doesn’t know but I am getting some of our wedding photos printed off to go up on the wall in our home β™‘ Here are the ones that I’ve chosen…

I got a lovely white frame with three spaces in it from Wilko, only Β£5 that I’m going to put them in and wrap up for Tim, I hope he likes it πŸ™‚

& just generally enjoying the festivities together as a couple πŸ’‘ We have been to a few Christmas markets together & will be having our traditional panto trip too (Look out for those later on in Blogmas)

Today in my beauty advent calender…

I got this lovely eye primer. This is so handy as I find eyeshadow applies so much better with a primer. I havnt tried this one either so I’m looking forward to giving this a go.

13 sleeps to go, seriously!! I need to get wrapping βœ‚

Beauty advent calender πŸ™ˆ

Yup I forgot to include my beauty advent pieces from the last few days! I’m so rubbish at remembering this haha.

So, on Saturday 10th December I got this lovely eyeshadow.

It’s a lovely shimmery creamy colour. This would look lovely all over the lid or with a more dramatic make up look. I wore this on its own today and it looked really nice.

On Sunday 11th December I got another lipstick and this one is perfect for autumn/Winter time. It’s a gorgeous plum shade which I love (& recently got a lip Liner of, yay!)

The colour of the packaging made me worry a bit to begin with as it looks like bright purple πŸ™ˆ but, when I swatched it I realised it was a lovely plum tone. Thank goodness for that haha.

These are such a good size for your handbag too & the packaging is lovely with the simple goldey/copper writing.

I promise I’ll try & be better at including these at the end of my posts from now on!!

Winter Wonderland❄: Blogmas day 11

Yesterday we went to Winter Wonderland to enjoy the christmassy, winter goodness. We drove up to Westfield shopping centre in Stratford and took the tube to Marble Arch for the festive fun.

This was our third time going to Winter Wonderland but Noahs first so we were excited for him to see it all.

London looked so Christmassy β˜„

Me & Sarah made a detour to the Oxford Street Primark (omg so busy!) and once we had made it out we joined the group, it looked son pretty with all the little stalls & lights.

We went and found some food and I got a tradition bratwurst sausage 🌭

Once we had eaten we queued up for the big wheel.

We got some yummy Hot chocolate while we waited…

Noah loved the big wheel! He loved looking at all the lights from above.

It was lots of fun!

& the chocolate waffles afterwards were delicious πŸ˜‹

We took Noahy on some rides before going home…

He went on the penguins with mummy.
& Santa’s sleigh with me.
I would definatly recommend going as it’s lovely & a great day out to enjoy the wintry season.

Blogmas day 10: Tanya Burr cosmetics πŸ’‹

How are we 10 days in already?!?

I recently bought some of Tanya’s Burrs make up from her latest ranges and I thought I would show you what I got.

First up,

The Midnight smoulder palette from her New autumn collection.

The colours in this palette are so beautiful.

From top left to bottom right: Star gazing, endless sky, midnight navy & into the night.

Also from her Autumn collection I grabbed one of her lipsticks. I have wanted to try these for ages and I have got a couple of the colours on my Christmas list but I really wanted her red shade ready for the Christmas party season. They are lovely creme lipsticks and the colours are amazing.

This is the red shade, ‘Big kiss’

Here’s a swatch of the lipstick, it’s a lovely darker red  and is going to look great for my work Christmas meals.

From her Soft Luxe collection I picked up one of her lip glosses that I have seen her use in a few of her videos and really liked the look of it.

This is in the shade ‘Afternoon tea’  it’s a lovely peachy pink colour.

I also picked up a lip gloss set from her New Christmas collection. I love her Christmas collection this year, it’s got some awesome pieces in it (also on my Christmas list!! Pretty please Santa πŸŽ…)  and the packaging is gorgeous too.

These lip glosses are so pretty, the pink on the left side is called ‘Berry Pavlova’ and the red one is called ‘Candy Cane’  Love that!

I love the icy blues, cute light pink lips all over the packaging & glitter detailing to look like a Christmas bow.

Here are some swatches…

These are limited edition so I had to grab them whilst they were still in stock as they won’t be available after Christmas.

My final item isn’t Tanya Burr but it’s along the same lines as it’s by her friend Zoella…

This cute make up bag is from Zoellas Tutti Fruitti range which is now being discontinued. I grabbed it for Β£2 since they’ll be gone soon and it’s such a lovely size for in your handbag.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? What would you recommend?

(P.s I stayed at my sisters last night as we are off to Winter Wonderland today so I haven’t opened my advent calender, I will include today’s & tommorrows in Day 11 of Blogmas!)

Blogmas day 9: Christmas party food πŸΎ

Food & Christmas, two of my favorite things and they go together so well! Last year for Blogmas I did a post on yummy diy sweet treats so I thought this time round I would stick to the food theme but go for party food. This is a great time of year for parties & buffets and I love some of these ideas.

I’ve included websites & me methods for these recipes to make it super easy if you fancy giving any of these a try! & if you do give them a try let me know!! I’d love to see them.

Let’s get started,

Christmas ham

I love gammon and this adds a special touch for Christmas.

Good Food Glazed Christmas Ham recipe

Baked cheddar crackers

These would be lovely with some tasty chutney or on their own, super cheesy.

Baked cheddar crackers recipe

Cheese and grape Christmas tree

This looks really cool and is so simple to create.

1. All you need to do is to chop up at least three different cheeses into cubes and pick green and red grapes off their stems.

2. Once you’ve done this you can arrange them in layers, in the shape of a Christmas tree.

3. Pop a piece of celery at the bottom as the stem & add herbs between the layers to make it look more tree-like.

Tear & share garlic bread Christmas tree

Garlicky, delicious and great to share. This recipe is a Jamie Oliver one, give it a try πŸ‘Œ

Tear and share garlic bread

Cocktail sausages and dips

Cocktail sausages with dips, pretty self explanatory. I would personally swap plain cocktail sausages for pigs in blankets for the holiday season. Ketchup & mustard make great dips.

Spiced/seasoned nuts

These are great for a buffet or for snacking throughout the day. Nuts are quite traditional for Christmas too!

Good Food spicy/seasoned nuts

Baked camembert with bacon wrapped breadsticks.

Gooey melted cheese and crispy golden bread = heaven!

Baked camembert with bacon wrapped breadsticks recipe

Turkey & stuffing sausage rolls

These just sound amazing and would be fab as part of any buffet. Perfect to use up those leftovers too.

Great British Chefs turkey & stuffing sausage roll recipe

Caramelised cranberry relish

Super festive!

Good Food caramelised cranberry relish

Starry mince pies

This recipe is a Nigella one and they look really cute with the star on top.

Nigella Lawson Mince pie recipe

Cranberry & Lime vodka

This is a lovely festive twist on an alcoholic classic. Great for the party season.

1. Peel the rind of the lime.

2. Poke a hole in each cranberry using a fork.

3. Drop each cranberry into your empty bottle or jar. Drop pieces of lime rind alternatively throughout the layers of cranberry.

4. Add the sugar.

5. Using a funnel fill the bottle with as much vodka as you can fit.

6. Serve 🍸

Strawberry and cream Santa’s

These are super easy!

1.Cut the top (stalk end) of the strawberry off so that you have a flat bottom. Turn it upside down on to the flat surface.

2. Cut off the pointy end, fill the space with whipped cream, mixed with cream cheese & icing sugar to make it stiffer.

3. Place the pointed end of the strawberry back on top as the Santa hat, add a blob of cream for the bobble on top.

4. Pipe a little cream for buttons & eyes to add detail.

And finally,

Chocolate truffle cheesecake

I’m hoping to make this for me & Tim to have on Christmas day as our dessert as neither of us like the traditional Christmas pudding or cake. This would also make a great centrepiece at a party or a lovely addition to a buffet table.

Chocolate truffle cheesecake

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! All things foodie πŸ˜‹

Whats your favourite party or Christmas food?

Day 9 of my advent calender…

Another nude lipstick! This looks quite similar to the one that I got previously but it’s actually a much lighter shade of nude.
