My 2019 reading challenge πŸ“š

Reading is my absolute favourite hobby.

Getting so immeresed into a story, it’s characters and plot, to the extent that when you put it down (it you can!!) then you are just itching for the next time you can pick it up, is truly something wonderful.

& there are some brilliant books out there.

I feel like I don’t make enough time for reading and I want to change this in 2019 so, I thought I would set myself a little reading challenge.

It’s not going to be too structured as I find a rigid scheme often takes the fun out of the reading, I don’t want to read a particular book list or anything like that, I will just be keeping it simple.

365 days.

2 books a month.

12 months.

24 books.

(Obviosuly two is my minimum, often during months with school holidays I will get through more.)

So, for January I currently have my two books on the go.

I wouldn’t normally read two at once but this is just how it has gone this time as I had already started one when I discovered one I couldn’t resist starting too. Plus, I’ve read Goodnight Mr Tom before and watched the film loads of times, so it’s much easier to follow as I know the story well.

January

Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian

Its the story of young Willie Beech, evacuated to the country as Britain stands on the brink of the Second World War. A sad, deprived child, he slowly begins to flourish under the care of old Tom Oakley – but his new-found happiness is shattered by a summons from his mother back in London. As time goes by Tom begins to worry when Willie doesn’t answer his letters, so he goes to London to find him, and and there he makes a terrible discovery.re .

The face behind the mask: The Annie Graham series (Book 6) by Helen Phifer.

‘The greatest show on earth may pose the greatest danger…
1950: Tufty the clown is a circus favourite, drawing fans from miles around. But behind the painted white face, the upturned red lips and bouncy wig, there lurks something far more sinister…
Present Day: When Walter discovers an old clown suit, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to it. Putting on the suit feels electric, but that’s when the voices in his head get louder, and suddenly, he finds himself acting in ways he never would have imagined.

Let me know what books you are looking forward to reading this year!!

** Happy Reading **

Until next time,

Blogmas Day 25: Christmas eve boxes🎁 that’s a wrap!

πŸŽ… MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE πŸŽ…

Yesterday we had fun enjoying some festive frivolity with my sisters, niece & nephews and then out with friends for lunch.

In the evening, once we had seen the Christmas lights, we cracked open the Christmas eve boxes for the boys.

For the adults we all had new pjs, I had friends ones, Tim had dinosaur ones and Sarah & Dan had Grinch ones.

I put together a Christmas eve box for my nephews Noah & Casey as well as my niece Evie-Mae.

They seemed to really enjoy it.

They all especially liked the little light up, spinning toys.

So, what did I put into the boxes?

The boxes varied slightly as Noah & Casey are a bit older than Evie.

Noah & Casey

β—‹Chocolate coins

β—‹A Chocolate lolly each

β—‹Reindeer food

β—‹A light up, spinning toy

β—‹A little Christmas book

β—‹A Christmas puzzle

β—‹New, Cosy Pjs

β—‹New, Cosy Pjs

Look at them in their matching Harry Potter Pjs 😍

They all seemed to enjoy their boxes and it’s a fun, cute little tradition to add some more magic to Christmas eve.

I love seeing their excited little faves.

I hope you have enjoyed my Blogmas posts this year, I love doing it, it always makes me feel so festive and I love sharing my love of Christmas.

I hope you all have the very best Christmas & a Happy New year.

See you in 2019!!

Blogmas Day 24: Decorating gingerbread men.

It’s Christmas Eve!!

I can’t believe it, this Blogmas has been the quickest yet.

Only One day to go!!

love doing festive craft and cooking with my nephews and niece.

I found these cute ‘decorate your own gingerbread man’ sets in the Co-op.

You get six mini gingerbread men (perfect for little ones) some icing tubes and sprinkles to decorate.

This is great for little ones as the gingerbread men aren’t too big, a good treat size, and nice and simple for them to.

They were all very excited to get started.

The set came with a little tube of icing and two different types of sprinkles.

It was a nice little bit of festive fun for the kiddies and of course their favourite part was the eating!

Merry Christmas Eve!

If you want to know how we are spending Christmas eve have a look at Blogmas Day Five

Whatever you are doing, I hope it’s a good one πŸŽ„

Blogmas Day 13: The Shoebox appeal with Noah.

This year, as Noah is now 4 and old enough to get involved, I thought it would be nice to create our own shoebox present for the Shoebox appeal (Link above to the website if you’d like more info)

The appeal consists of sending your own christmas present to a child in need, in a different country.

You wrap up a shoebox, choose a gender/age range and fill the box up with age appropriate toiletries, toys, games, accessories, arts and crafts, writing tools and so on, and send it off to the appeal to be delivered to a child in need.

Noah really enjoyed picking out the items to go in the box for ‘the little boy’. He wanted to give it to a little boy who is the same age as him (4 years old).

20181121_203504

We went into town and into Wilkinson’s (Wilko), to see what we could find to fill our box. Wilko has a variety of departments so I thought this would be a good place to go to get lots of different things for the box.

Wilkos is brilliant and their stuff is so reasonably priced that it is perfect for a project like this.

So, here’s what we chose together.

20181121_203033

Toiletries

Kids Tooth brushKids Tooth paste Shark sponge Paw Patrol bath & shower gel

Toys

Mini RoadstersTrain Bubbles

Arts and crafts

Stickers Colouring pencils Chunky Crayons Plain sketch bookPencil case stationary set including pencils, rubbers etc Two different sized note books Paint set with brush Superhero stickers Pirate colouring/activity book.

Once we had got everything that we wanted we headed home. Sarah wrapped up the box for us and then we filled it up with the goodies we had bought.

Its lovely to think that a child will receive the items you chose, and that they will get something fun but also useful. We are very lucky to be in the position that we are in so its nice to give something back.

There will also be a video up on mine and my twin sisters youtube channel ‘Roseanne & Sarah’

Our shoebox for the appeal

So take a look at that too if you like πŸ™‚

Its a lovely Christmassy idea that gives something back.

Until next time,

Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary πŸ’πŸ’— 11.06.16

If you’ve followed my blog for any sort of time you’ll know that it all began when I was planning our wedding and wanted to document the journey… if not, hey πŸ‘‹πŸ» & that’s how this little blog began!

Fast forward two years and here we are on our second wedding anniversary… yep, two whole years!! Where did that time even go.

So, what can I say about two years of marriage...
β—‹Remember that you’re in it together, part of a team πŸ’‘

β—‹You’ve always got someone to make cool plans with ✈

β—‹Best friends for life, Husband & Wife.

β—‹He’s still as annoying πŸ€ͺ but he’s my annoying, forever β™‘ (& I’m sure I’m just as annoying too tbf)

β—‹There’s support, whenever you need it & when you don’t even realise you need it yourself.

β—‹I still find it weird that I’m a Mrs! πŸ’

β—‹& it still feels a bit strange to say ‘My husband’… far too adult haha πŸ€΅πŸŽ©πŸ‘ž

β—‹It’s not easy but it’s always worth it.

β—‹It was the best day of my life.

How did we celebrate?

We stayed over for a night at Waveny River Centre in Norfolk, in a Yurt! It’s like a fancy and super cosy tent, very cool.

As you can see from the pictures it’s really lovely and a fun change from a hotel.

We had a nice meal out at the local pub and just spent some time together playing games and such in the evening which was nice and chilled.

This morning we opened up our lovely cards, Tim got me some beautiful flowers & I got him some of his favourite sweets.

We only got each other a little something as we like saving money to do things, like staying in the Yurt, instead.

& there we have it..

730 days

17,520 hours

1,051,200 minutes

63,072,000 seconds

And still counting… πŸ’—

Until next time,

οΏΌPets πŸ’š

Pets make a great addition to any family, they are someone to cuddle, someone to talk to, someone to look after, someone to love.

This probably seems like a really random blog post but I started this blog to document one of the most important days of my life (our wedding) and since then I have found it my place to write about the things I like, that make me, me as well as the things that are important to me in my life.

We have two pets, both guinea pigs, brothers in fact, they are called Remus and Captain. I named Remus after the Harry Potter Character Remus Lupin and Tim chose the name Captain.

My favourite things about having them as our pets are the following; feeding them and seeing their delight when they have a tasty treat, giving them a cuddle & a stroke and hearing them squeaking whenever i open the door after a day at work (or when anyone opens the fridge)

My nephew Noah has become more fascinated by the guinea pigs as he has got older, hes grown up with them. He always comes into the lounge and sees them, asks where they are if they are hiding and helps me to feed them too.

Unfortunately yesterday (Saturday 23rd September) was a very sad day as we lost Remus 😭 He was a such a cool guinea pig & quite a character too! We’ll miss him loads, (especially Cappers). He had been ill and appeared to get better but such is the problem with small pets such as Guinea pigs, they often mask their illness. I just hope he is comfortable wherever he is now.

He was a big part of our lives! Him and Captain were our first pets that we bought together after moving in with each other 3 years or so ago when they were just 8 weeks old.

Pet’s really do leave a special mark on your heart πŸ’š I’m glad we’ve still got Captain and we will always have the lovely memories of our awesome, funny, adorable Remus 🐹

RIP buddy xxx

Auntie pt 2

Being an Auntie is truely special. I’m not a mum, in a way I’m sure thats probably ‘better’ but there really is something so lovely about being an Auntie. For one you get to give them back!! (Something I always say but rarely want to do) you also get to be the fun one. The crazy one. The let’s eat cake at half 10 one. The ok, go on, one last time one. The sleepover queen.

The one who these little people manage to wrap round their little finger no matter how hard you try to repell it (and let’s be honest you don’t try very hard!)

This picture is what prompted me to write this post…

My three week old niece and almost three year old nephew.

This photo fills me with equal amounts of pride and sadness.

Pride for that little boy that I met when he was barely an hour old, who I’m sure was only one yesterday! Being a beautiful big cousin to Evie-Mae, so caring and gentle.

But sadness because, I’m sure he was that small just a little while ago, they grow up so fast and until I had nieces and nephews I never quite realised just how fast.

Everytime they achieve something I burst with pride for that little person but at the same time think, that’s another ‘First’ gone. But boy are we lucky to have those ‘firsts’! All those things we hope they’ll achieve and are so happy when they do.

I’m always sure to remember, with ‘firsts’ come ‘lasts’ so I read that story even though I’m tired (because I’m not used to running around after them all the time! Mums I don’t know how you do it!!) I treasure that sound when he runs to me and says ‘Ro Ro’ (A nickname I hope will have longevity, I can’t cope with the thought of not hearing that) those cuddles when he is tired or has fallen over and he just wants your comfort, or the dancing to fireman Sam round the lounge in your PJs.

Because in the blink of an eye he’ll be a big boy and Ro Ro’s not quite ready for that yet. Thank goodness for my other little ones.

Being an Auntie really has changed my life.

What do you love most about being am Auntie/Aunt/Uncle?

Holiblog 4: Activities 🌞β›΅

We really wanted a chilled out holiday for our honeymoon and have therefore spent alot of this holiday doing just that, perfect 👌

But, we have also filled the time with other activities to break up the days and to make sure that we saw plenty of this beautiful country (Well the part we were in anyway)

Here goes…

So, as I said alot of chilling by the pool & swimming for at least a few hours everyday (it’s a hard life but someone’s gotta do it :D)

We went for walks around the hotel complex & the local area… 🏨👣

…Usually followed by a nice refreshing drink… 🍹🍸

…And a game of pool! 🎱

There was also great live music most nights courtesy of our hotel 🎶🎹🎸🎤

We went on an allday boat trip that took you over to Madalena Island, a must see area of Sardinia. We sat on the front of the boat, enjoying the views and sunshine, had a delicious lunch prepared for us, swam in the sea and saw some cool fish and dolphins. 🐠🐋🐚

By boat is a fantastic way to see Sardinia in all its glory. β›΅🌊

Exploring Madalena Island…

We spent a morning on the beach! 🌞🐚

And took the shuttle bus to Baya Sardinia to look round, do a spot of shopping and have some lunch! 🚐

We’ve had the BEST time ever 💗

I thought it fitting to write about our honeymoon as I started this blog when we began our wedding planning πŸ™‚ 💐

& this was an awesome part 💗

Until next time,

Post wedding!

I thought I would do a little update post wedding as it’s been a couple of weeks since the big day.

image

Lots of people have asked me,‘So how’s married life?’‘No different’ is my usual response but there are a few changes…

β—‹ Being called Mrs Byford. To begin with this made me feel a bit sad, I’d lost my identity as Roseanne Green but now I’ve got used to it I’m quite proud to share Tims name and be the Mrs Byford to his Mr Byford.

β—‹ I feel a bit more adult now that I have a husband!! (Not much) but a little bit. It’s very odd being a MRS!!

β—‹ We made a cleaning/chores rota! (Finally) The only thing me and Tim have ever bickered about since sharing a home is chores and now that we are married we thought why spoil the married bliss?! so, instead we solved the problem and it actually works really well. We share them out much more evenly between us.

Having been together 5 years our relationship as it is hasn’t really changed massivly since becoming Mr & Mrs but I think it does make you think about the vows and promises you make and I hope that we always remember those that we pledged to one another and enjoy sharing our lives together as a “legally binding’ couple.

We havnt quite finished sorting out all the wedding stuff yet but I have put some of our lovely decorations to good use around the flat πŸ™‚

I thought it would be nice to freshen up the flat, now that the wedding planning is done, by moving things around a bit. In the summer I like to be able to have our double doors to the Juliette balcony open.
image
image

We are still getting wedding post and Mr & Mrs cards which is always nice!

image

I ordered some photos from the free prints app This is great as you get 50 free prints a month and only pay postage.

image

I used this alot for the wedding and I thought I would get a few pictures of the wedding printed that our guests took and that were shared on facebook…

… It’s nice to have some to look at until we get our official ones through.

Well, that’s all for now!

Until next time,
