What I got for my birthday!

As you may know from my previous post ’28 ๐Ÿฅณ’ I recently celebrated my 28th birthday.

I love reading/watching peoples ‘What I got for my birthday’ blogs/vlogs so I thought I would do it again this year.

**Disclaimer**

I’m not boasting, I really just like to show my appreciation for my presents and remember them when I look back on my posts & I know some people like these kinds of blog posts too.

Let’s get started.

My main birthday present from my husband Tim was my coffee machine.

I’ve wanted one for a little while but it’s a bit of a luxury so I haven’t bought one, my birthday seemed like a good opportunity to add it to my list and I was very lucky to get one.

Tim bought me the Nespresso Lattissima One.

I love it! Especially the milk frother as it makes delicious lattes, my favourite coffee. ๐Ÿ˜‹

My sister bought me these cute glass mugs to go with it.

I love reading! So I always welcome receiving books for my birthday.

Mrs Hinch’s book was on my list as I like her, her insta is hilarious!! My older sister got me this one.

My work friend got me a little book all about Mindfulness as I really enjoyed the positivity of my ‘Mindfulness March’ challenge.

& Tim chose the book ‘The house across the street’ for me as he thought I would enjoy it ๐Ÿ˜Š

I LOVE bath stuff, especially Lush bath bombs! And I got a good little haul this year. I cant wait to try these all out.

One of the most exciting bath bombs I got was ‘The Comforter’ it’s my absolute fave Lush product as the bubble bar but now it’s a bath bomb too ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

I also picked out these lovely bubble baths when me and Tim were in Tesco just before my birthday. They smell incredible.

Fruity and honey/vanilla scents are my ultimate fave when it comes to bubble bath and these are just amazing, they almost smell good enough to eat!!

I also got lots of lovely shower gels and a super cute polka dot travel toiletries bag that can hang up in the shower, pretty & practical!

I got a couple of Harry Potter bits for my birthday too.

I got this cool book from my brother in law which has all the different character wands in it and lots of information about them which is really cool.

I also got this cute little coin purse from my Mum. This is perfect for travelling and when using a smaller bag, plus its in the shape of a golden snitch, what’s not to love!

Along the lines of Harry Potter, my lovely husband Tim bought me and Sarah a Harry Potter activity themed day out in London. We will be having Magical Harry Potter afternoon tea and attending a magical potions cocktail class in the evening. Its going to be so epic, I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!! โšกโšก

I’ll pop the details below incase you are interested in that kind of thing:

‘The Cauldron’ Cocktail potions class

The Potions Room Afternoon tea

I also got lots of yummy chocolatey treats…

& a great selection of new nail varnishes including some pretty pastels, summery coral and colour changing heat/cool gel nail varnishes.

& the standard birthday pyjamas.

I love my Auntie presents from my favourite little people too ๐Ÿฅฐ

I hope you enjoyed having a little look at my pressies.

Here’s to my 28th year!

Until next time,

28

So here it is, my 28th birthday! 28 years of me, 28 years of us๐ŸŽˆ

I mean, I couldn’t blog from the age of 0-10 so I feel like this may be the most poignant 10 years of my life so far (that I am capable of blogging about)

This year, 2019, mark’s 10 years since I turned 18 and that is just so crazy to me because it honestly feels like yesterday.

10 whole years of being a fully fledged adult (who by the way totally doesn’t feel like one even now)

But aside from that I feel like these last 10 years, the first 10 of my adult life have been quite important!

10 whole years of working with children in one setting or another, whether it be on placement, work experience or employment.

I completed my compulsory education and A Levels…

Then went to Uni for 4 years and completed a Ba Hons degree.

It’s been almost 8 years in my first childcare job and 5 in my job as a Teaching ssistant, a job I love, the career I strived to have.

I met the love of my life & best friend during these 10 years โ™ก We visited what has now become our favourite country, Italy (Several times) and we got engaged there and are now Husband and wife, for almost 3 year! (8 together)

We have a mortgage!!! We own our own home, which is very adult and sensible (& at times infuriating haha) Who knew owning your own home was so expensive!!

We got our own pets, 2 Guinea pigs. Sadly Remus is no longer with us but Captain is still going strong.

I’ve become an Auntie 3 times!! And it’s the most wonderful, lovely, fun, heart bursting, love filled, hilarious and joyful role that I’ve ever had. I love those little guys, they are so awesome.

& last year me and Sarah finally made it to Hogwarts โšก Florida ’18 was a holiday of a lifetime and it was as amazing (infact probably more amazing) than we could ever have imagined.

I think 18 year old Roseanne would be pretty pleased with how it’s going so far.

But, what do the final couple of years of my twenties have in store?

What do I hope to achieve before I enter the realms of my thirties?

  • Learn to drive
  • Visit a few more places in Italy
  • Complete a half marathon
  • Reach my SW target
  • Continue to improve my running
  • Re visit the HP tour with all the new bits.
  • Learn to be more content
  • Worry less
  • Have a short break in New York to celebrate our 30th birthday

What’s on your list?

Until next time,

Roseanne ๐Ÿ™‚

Part 2: What I got for my Birthday ๐ŸŽ

So here’s part two! What I got for my birthday. This isn’t a braggy post, I just love seeing what people get for their birthday (nosey I know ๐Ÿคช) but its a good insight into their interests and personality. I also thought it would be a nice way to show my appreciation for all the lovely gifts that I received this year.

So settle down with a cuppa and let’s take a look.

I’ve categorised this post in order to make it an easier read, enjoy!

Beauty

One of my faves โ™ก from my little niece Evie-Mae. This make up bag is so cute!! I love it, and it’s a great size too.

I also got a few make up items. The Tanya Burr ‘Glow Du Cocoa’ palette with a bronzer, super shimmery highlighter and a lip gloss that adds a lovely goldy glow to your lips. This palette is going to be perfect for summer and when I’m on holiday.

I also got two highlighter palettes from my sister Sarah. These are so pretty ๐Ÿ˜

The Revolution Pro HD palette, the highlighter palette of dreams.. So pretty. I also got another trio of baked highlighter, also by Revolution.

Sarah also got me some of the Primark nails which are really cool.

I was also given some of Barry Ms new Holographic nail varnishes in their Metals range. I’ve been trying to get hold of these for a while. Definatly check those out.

Skincare/bath/shower stuff

I LOVE bath stuff, bath bombs, yummy smelling shower gels & soaps so I was super pleased with these gifts!

I love the Wilko ‘Fruity’ shower gels, the scents are amazing.

The Lush set that I got was awesome as I havn’t tried any of the items in it before and I love trying lots of new Lush stuff, shower gels & soaps, exciting.

I also got a couple of the Marshmallow bath oils which smell incredible. One of my new faves and your skin feels so soft afterwards.

My husband Tim also got me something I have wanted for AGES!! A bath caddy tray, and it is as epic as I’d imagined. It fits perfectly across the bath, holds my iPad & or phone up safely, has a cup/glass holder and an area just to put your magazine, chocolate etc. Perfect for any bath lover.

Food

I also got a few of my favourite Ciders, which are perfect in the summer when it’s lovely and hot outside ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

I also got some of my favourite chocolate, the ultimate, a Terrys chocolate orange (that didn’t make it past my birthday) a bag of the segments, crispy m&ms and more! YUM.

Clothes/accessories

I love my ((Bounce)) fitness classes and I finally got a couple of pairs of their leggings. Aren’t they awesome?! So pretty. Love a pair of jazzy leggings.

Harry potter inspired chokers!! Need I say anymore!! Epic.

This purse is so awesome. It’s in the style of the Hogwarts acceptance letter, with the hand written font on one side and the Hogwarts crest & seal on the back, just like the envelopes. SO cool and perfect, if like me, you have loads of loyalty cards as it’s got loads of space inside.

Primark are killin’ it with the Harry Potter merch atm and you can never have too many socks, a birthday staple.

Books

Reading is my single most favourite hobby. I got a couple of novels for my birthday that I had found on Amazon and that sounded really good.

I love Ruth Jones so I was really exited to get her first published novel, it’s called ‘Never Greener’. I also got a novel called ‘The Child’, it sounds so gripping so I can’t wait to get my teeth into that.

My sister also got me the ‘A list a day’ notebook from Paperchase and it is right up my street. I love a list. Any stationary lovers out there, you need this. Such fun!

DVDS

Carrying on with the Ruth Jones theme, I got the last series of her TV sitcom Stella, which I love. I havn’t seen this series & Christmas special so I can’t wait to watch the next instalment in this brilliant series (I can’t believe it’s the end ๐Ÿ˜ญ)

I also got ‘The Greatest Showman’. This requires no explanation. A-MAZ-ING. If you havnt seen it, 1. Where have you been? & 2. GO NOW AND WATCH IT.

Giftcards

I was very fortunate to get some lovely vouchers too. Primark, my most fave shop, EVER.

Superdrug, which is perfect as I love buying my nail varnish and make up from there.

& New look, they always have such pretty clothes too.

This calls for one thing.. A SHOPPING SPREE.

& finally,

Other

I got this gorgeous keyring from my two nephew’s, I mean, how super cute is it!?! Love it.

I also got this epic Harry Potter colour changing glass. Perfect topped up with one of those ice cold ciders at a BBQ this summer. Keepin’ my fingers crossed for sun.

My lovely husband Tim also got me the epic present of an Italian themed cooking class. I love cooking and if you’ve followed me on here for a while you’ll know that we LOVE Italy & Italian food so that is going to be so epic (& tasty) I can’t wait.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I’ve been very lucky this year and am super pleased with all my lovely gifts โ—‡

Until next time,

Part one: Our 27th Birthday celebrations ๐ŸŽ‰

If your going to celebrate you might as well go all in.

I love a Birthday, a chance to have fun, eat lots of good food & spend time with your favourite people.

& being a twin I’ve always enjoyed having someone to share the special day with.

Even though I’m not quite sure how I am now a 27 year old person, (Like, I was at sixth form yesterday wasn’t I!?!) Where did that time go!?!

But, a lot of great things have been achieved since then so why not celebrate another year of living life โœŒ๐Ÿป

So how did we celebrate? Here’s how…

Friday 11th May

On Friday evening we met up with our friends for a meal together. It was great to see everyone as it’s much harder for us all to get together now a days.

Nandos was of course our choice of restaurant, you can’t beat a cheeky Nandos.

Me & my twin sister Sarah have the same group of friends from school, so that makes it alot easier too.

Saturday 12th May

We started off with our usual Saturday morning tradition, Parkrun.

32266810_10156454497045762_5297962951276232704_n

A 5k course around our local park. Crazy you might think but, it was a perfect way to start the birthday weekend of indulgence. I didn’t feel as guilty knowing I’d done my run for the day.

We went our separate ways to freshen up after the run and then ‘re grouped’ at mum & dad’s for a family birthday breakfast brunch.

32313612_10156454453035762_644462978090926080_n

I honestly don’t know why we have never done this before, because let’s be real, breakfast food is the best food.

It was good fun getting together, enjoying some yummy food and opening some pressies. We even had birthday cupcakes with candles.

We then spent the rest of the day chilling out and then me and Tim got ready for the evening.

Tim’s work friend had invited us along to her wedding reception so this is how we spent the evening.

32314054_10157398463256679_5578735941352161280_n

It was a BEAUTIFUL setting and the flowers & fairy lights were so pretty. Love a wedding.

Sunday 13th May

We had booked ourselves in for an Escape room experience for Sunday so me, Tim, Sarah and her husband Dan went off to the Escape Room in Colchester. We booked the ‘Witchcraft & Wizardry’ escape room for us to attempt as me and Sarah are big fans of Harry Potter (Don’t think Ive mentioned that before… haha)

One room, One hour…

It was really good fun and WE MADE IT OUT!! With 7 minutes to spare.

32530689_10156457082150762_6244817216420708352_n

In the evening we had our traditional family birthday meal.

We chose Byron Burger as the location (Second year running!) and it didn’t disappoint. We had a feast, it was sooooo good, especially their new Halloumi fries.

Here’s what I had…

โ—Clucky chicken burger

โ— French fries

โ— Me & Tim shared Halloumi fries & Chicken nuggets

โ— Banana milkshake

Once we had all finished we headed back to mine and Tim’s to have cake!

Tim chose the cake for us ๐Ÿ˜‚ A Paw Patrol traybake.

It was a great birthday and lots of fun was had.

I’m going to do a part 2: ‘What I got for my birthday’ so keep your eyes peeled for that ๐Ÿ‘€

Until next year,

Victoria Sponge Birthday Cake recipe ๐ŸŽ‚

Hi guys ๐Ÿ–‘

So I took to Twitter last week to see what you guys would like to see in my next blog post, And food won!

This coincided with the making of my Mum’s birthday cake, her birthday was on sundayy, so I thought that, that could be the focus of this blog post because, who doesn’t love a good cake let’s be honest ๐Ÿ‘

I used a Mary Berry recipe from the BBC food website, although she isn’t on the GBBO anymore (still hurts) she is still the queen of baking ๐Ÿ‘‘

  • INGREDIENTS
  • 4 free-range eggs
  • 225g/8oz caster sugar, plus a little extra for dusting the finished cake
  • 225g/8oz self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 225g/8oz baking spread, margarine or softbutter at room temperature, plus a little extra to grease the tins

Let’s take a look!

My sponges aren’t very neat, but they tasted good!!

Next up! Jam & buttercream…

Voila! Mum chose fudge pieces and white chocolate as her toppings…

The finished cake, it’s quite a beast. Not perfect but I was really pleased with the rise of the sponges and the taste.

Top tip: Let the sponges cool before pulling off the baking parchment from the bottom of the sponges!

Mary Berrys Perfect Victoria Sponge!

Until next time,

Happy 1st birthday Casey James๐ŸŽˆ

So on the 24th August my littlest nephew Casey turned one! SERIOUSLY!?! Where did that year go?!

Now you may or may not know, that I was one of my twin sister’s birthing partners (with her husband Dan) so I actually watched little Casey come into this world. He’s changed so much in this first year and he has a real cheeky personality of his own. He’s funny, clumsy, cute and just a really smiley little sausage that can melt your heart with one look ๐Ÿ’™

On Sunday we had a family birthday party to celebrate and I thought I would share some snaps from the day.

We started off with opening the presents. Me & Tim had already given him a few on his actual birthday but saved his main present for the party, that being the activity table you can see in the photos. He seemed to really enjoy it ๐Ÿ˜Š

After we had tucked into some party food & of course cake! (Which I made!) with a lovely rendition of Happy birthday, we decided to head out for a bit of fresh air. It was a really hot day.

We walked to a nearby pub to have a drink in the sunshine.

We found a lovely table outside and just chatted and enjoyed the lovely weather whilst catching up.

Infact we spent so long there we decided, why not stay a bit longer! & We all got something to eat.

They do a delicious carvery at this pub with all the trimmings and it being a Sunday it would have been rude not to aye?! Lovely.

Casey seemed to have a fun day, lots of cuddles & smiles all round. So much fun intact that he needed a little nap inbetween ๐Ÿ˜ด

Happy 1st Birthday Casey James ๐Ÿ’™ Lots of love Auntie Ro Ro & Uncle TT

Until next time,

Afternoon tea ย ๐Ÿฐโ˜•

I love Afternoon tea & I know loads of you guys do too so I thought that I would share my most recent Afternoon tea experience with you.

We went to a place called Suffolk food hall that has a cafe, farm shop, garden centre & restaurant on site (amongst other things!) There’s lots going on there but it’s a lovely place.

The decoration in the restaurant is lovely, it’s nice & bright. I love the white wood painted ceilings, Sandy brick walls & restored beams.

The view outside the large windows is so lovely too! You look out onto the River Orwell & the cow fields too.

Here’s what we had for Afternoon tea…

Bottom tier:

  • Mini brown roll with Ham & mustard
  • Mini granary/seeded roll with smoked salmon & cream cheese
  • Mini white roll with cheese & pickle
  • Mini cheese & leek tartlet
  • Sausage roll

Middle tier:

  • Large Fruit scone with clotted cream & raspberry jam
  • Carrot cake slice with cream cheese frosting.

Top tier:

  • Mini chocolate & caramel shortbread
  • White chocolate chip cookie
  • Mini shortbread

& of course lots of English breakfast tea.

My mum doesn’t like chocolate so she was given a shortbread, however, she does eat white chocolate so I gave her my white choc chip cookie and I had her plain shortbread as I LOVE shortbread.

Me & mum both work at the same After school club and we arranged this afternoon tea for our friend (who also used to work at the after school club) as it was her 30th Birthday this year! We had a lovely time ๐ŸŽˆ

I really enjoyed this afternoon tea as it was a bit different to the last one I had (check them out here: Patisserie Valerie ) as the cakes/biscuits were different & really tasty! I especially enjoyed the chocolate & caramel shortbread, it was literally melt in the mouth ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The only thing I feel could have been improved was having a variety of breads for the savoury section instead of all rolls & a little bit more filling in these.

Cost: ยฃ14.50 each & bookable in advance.
I hope you’ve found this useful ๐Ÿ˜

Until next time,

Roseanne ๐Ÿ™‚
