Happy Mothers Day 2021 💐

I used to share snap shots of my life on her, things we had done to celebrate different occasions, fun days out, holidays, however, obviously this last year has been quite an unpresidented one.

I feel like I haven’t really shared much of what I have been doing because really we’ve all been doing the same haven’t we! Staying home, Locked down, on and off since Summer, working and just trying to stay safe.

But I thought to myself, why not share the celebrations we are still having, as wierd as they may seem in comparison to how it used to be, because it’s all we’ve got at the moment and we should still be grateful for what we can do during such a mad time.

Today is Mothers day and I have shared on here, for several years, our tradition of our Mothers Day, homemade afternoon tea.

This year was a very 2020/21 affair, via Skype, but it still involved Afternoon Tea so no complaints here.

We ordered the individual Afternoon Teas from a small local business (All Covid safe) and enjoyed them at our own homes via Skype.

They were delicious and it was nice to be able to continue the tradition, even if it was a little different to usual.

Most of our ‘Usuals’ seem a distant memory right now don’t they 😣 but, it’s also so important to embrace what we can do, communicate and spend time together however we can, whilst staying safe, because we can still stay in touch and stay connected, and we will all be back together properly one day.

It gets to everybody at some point, this wierd time we are a part of, but I’m so very conscious that there are people in such a worse situation than me, who have experienced some of the worst times during this pandemic.

If the worst part of this whole situation, for me is that I can only speak to people through a computer then I’ll be forever grateful. I know some people have it much worse.

It’s still ok to find it hard though and I hope you’ve had a little bit of light and joy come your way today!

World Book Day 2021!

World Book Day snuck in just in time, before the first Lockdown last year, this year wasn’t to be… so, how does your lockdown World Book Day look??

It’s such a shame that we haven’t been able to fully immerse ourselves, as we usually would, at work but it was lovely seeing all the children sharing books, picking them out, listening to stories and writing.

I love watching children enjoying and getting involved with reading a book, it is one of my favourite parts of my job!

So, that was part of my lockdown World Book Day.

I’ve also been sharing a few of my book favourites over on my blogs Instagram (Roseannes Blog)

I also took the opportunity (via Skype 😥) to read my nephews a few stories for World Book Day

We read ‘I need a new bum’ and ‘The Dinosaur that pooped the past’ some silly & fun books!!

And of course I’m going to make sure that I do one of my most favourite things tonight… cosy down with a good book and just relax and enjoy it.

Whatever you are doing, I really hope that you are getting a moment to read a page or two of a book and you are able to forget about anything else that is happening, just for a moment, whilst you do.

Happy World Book Day Everybody!

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

Harry Potter Geek Gear Haul ⚡

Hi guys 👋🏻

So, late last year I got an awesome glass cabinet for all of my Harry Potter Merch!

If you’ve been around here before (or you know me) you’ll know that I’m a massive Harry Potter fan.. ⚡

So this is very exciting!! Any Potterheads on here!?!

I will be doing a post on here, of my HP Cabinet once it’s as I want it, so keep your eyes peeled for that 👀

Let’s get into the haul…

There was a sale on Geek Gear and I just couldn’t resist buying a few new bits that I didn’t have.

Mini Skele-Gro Bottle 💀
Umbridge Cat Plate 💝
Yule Ball Invite 🏰
Neville’s Remembrall 🌟
Hogwarts Crest Print ❤💚💛💙

I love that the items came packed in (what I assume is intentional) Weasley Wizard Wheezes coloured packaging 👌🏻

I can’t wait to add these to the cabinet.

The print is going up in our room, with our other ones.

And I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for more cool HP merch, because now I have a cabinet I can never have too much haha 🤣🤣

Have you guys got any cool HP Merch recommendations?

Or personal favourite pieces?

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

The Winter Garden: A Book Review ❄📚

Hi Guys 👋🏻

It’s time for another book review.

I want to start doing more of these this year and I think I might try and do a review, on a book I have read, at the end of each month.

So, here is January’s edition and it’s a great start.

Until Next Time,

A Book Haul: Xmas 2020 📚

Hi guys 👋🏻

So, this is my last post with the word Christmas in, honest!

Here is my book haul. I was very lucky to receive quite a few lovely books for Christmas this year, my ideal gift, so I thought I would share them with you.

It’s quite a mixed bag so let’s take a look…

  • Ant and Dec Once Upon a Tyne

I LOVE Ant & Dec, they are my absolute faves so I was super excited to receive this. This one I requested, so I hoped it was on it’s way. It’s really funny so far.

  • Finding Love at the Christmas Market by Jo Thomas

I had seen this one advertised and heard alot of great things (plus I love a cute, warm, festive story) so I was pleasantly suprised when my sister got me this. I’ve finished it and it was as lovely and heart warming as I’d have hoped. Perfect for Christmas & Blue January!

  • ‘Still Friends’ 25 Years of the TV show that defined an era. By Saul Austerlitz

I can’t wait to start reading this. F.R.I.E.N.D.S is my ultimate fave TV show and my lovely friend bought me this for Christmas, knowing I love both books & friends. Definatly onto a winner with this one.

  • Collectors editions of: Peter Pan By J M Barrie, A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens & The Railway Children by E Nesbit

I discovered these in my local indie bookshop. They are absolutely beautiful. The covers are amazing 😍 I have wanted to add some classics to my collection for a while so I picked these out and my Mum and Dad gave them to me for Christmas.

  • I also got two illustrated Harry Potter books; ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ illustrated edition & ‘Quidditch through the ages’ illustrated edition

If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know that I’m a MASSIVE!!! Harry Potter fan, so I was super excited to add these to my collection. I had asked for the illustrated ‘Goblet of Fire’ but I wasn’t expecting the ‘Quidditch through the ages’ illustrated version… IT LOOKS AMAZING.

Did you get some books for Christmas?? How are they??

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

So, you may or may not know that I love Lush.

I have done a few hauls over here on my blog before and I usually do one at this time of year because of the Jan sales… and this year was no exception, which is surprising as its such a strange time.

What Lush did this year was that they sent out a list of what products were on sale and their sale price (50% off 🙌🏻) and you rang through your order, paid online and collected in store, socially distanced.

It worked really well and it meant we could still get some bargin goodies.

Me and my twin sister sarah always grab some Lush bargains in the January sales so we were delighted that we still could (and even more so now that we are again in another lockdown! What else is there to do but have a bath when you are bored!?!)

Let’s see what I picked up in the sale…

Shoot for the stars
Golden Wonder
Snow Fairy Bath Bomb & Snow Fairy Bubblebar
Snow fairy bath bomb
Buttervear
Jurassic Spark gift box
A robot and a dinosaur bath bomb!

I was super happy with my purchases! A few of these I have tried before, but I hadn’t tried anything from the Jurassic Spark Box so that’s exciting.

What are your LUSH faves?

Until Next Time,

Roseanne 🙂

I still have one more festive book to read, that I was gifted for Christmas, ‘Finding Love at the Christmas Market’ By Jo Thomas.

This is the first book I’ve started in 2021.

My 2020 Reading Challenge: The Fourth and Final Quarter 📚

So, here it is! The final instalment of my 2020 reading challenge, and the final quarter…

October, November, December

Let’s have a look at what I have read during this quarter…

Books I’ve read:

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.

Where the Crawdads sing by Delia Owen

The Kindness Club at Mapleberry Lane: A Summer Suprise by Helen Rolfe

The Kindness Club at Mapleberry Lane: An Autumn Promise by Helen Rolfe

Coming home to Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters

New beginnings at Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters

Hopeful hearts at Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters

The Christmas Killer by Alex Pine

The Midnight Library is one of my favourite books that I have read this year. Its fantastic and I have recommended it to so many people already.

It’s so thought provoking and interesting, but gripping too.

I can’t recommend it enough

Alot of these were a similar type of book this quarter, easy readers. These are some of my favourite types of books, cosy, romantic, lovely and easy to pick up and get through, so I was super pleased to discover the Glendale series in particular.

I didn’t get through as many of my festive reads as I would have liked but I have one more on the cards for January, I recieved it as a gift for Christmas, from my sister.

It’s called ‘Finding Love at the Christmas Market’ by Jo thomas.

I haven’t quite decided how my reading challenge will take shape this year yet… maybe I will continue with the quarterly updates or I may go back to a monthly update, either way, keep your eyes peeled for that!

What’s been your favourite book of 2020?

Until next time,

Roseanne 🙂

Festive Leftovers 🥧🎄

Hi guys! 👋🏻

Now I don’t usually post after Blogmas until New Year but, I felt inspired and we all have a bit more time on our hands at the mo don’t we!

So, heres my festive leftover pie!

Perfect after those big roast dinners on Christmas day and great for being a bit thrifty.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A sheet or block of puff pastry
  • Leftover turkey
  • Leftover veg
  • Bacon or leftover Pig in blankets
  • 3 table spoons of double cream
  • A little milk
  • Cranberry sauce
  • A little grated cheese (optional)
  • Salt, pepper & garlic powdee to season

Lay out/or roll out your pastry. Cover the pastry (leaving half an inch around the edge free) with your cranberry sauce.

Heat up the cream and milk lightly, simmering it. Season.

Fry off some bacon.

Add your Turkey and bacon into the bubbly, creamy mixture.

I would also add the leftover veg at this point too. I added frozen peas to mine as I had no leftover veg.

Make sure it’s all warmed through thoroughly.

Grate a little cheese on top of the cranberry sauce.

Carefully spoon your creamy filling onto the pastry, on one side.

Fold the pastry over to cover the filling. Use a fork to create a seal around the edge. Pierce the top a few times to allow steam to escape.

I decorated mine with stars from the pastry scraps.

Spray with butter frylight or egg wash before baking in the oven for 25 minutes.

Yum!

I was slightly inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Hodge Podge Christmas Pie, I watched a video on his Instagram yesterday!

Here’s a link to that recipe:

Let me know if you give this a go!

Enjoy 🍽

Until Next Time,
